Nvidia (NVDA) talent is being recruited by Etched, with about 15% of the artificial intelligence startup's 400 employees having previously worked at Nvidia, The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday.
Etched has Nvidia's former vice president of data-center systems engineering, Jimmy Daley, as an investor in the startup after he retired in July. Additionally, Anthony Gamerman, a systems engineer at Nvidia, joined Etched in April, partly because a number of people he admired had already jumped ship, the report said.
In 2023, Saptadeep Pal, who researched multi-GPU parallelization at Nvidia and later co-founded Auradine, was hired by Etched to be its chief silicon architect, WSJ reported.
Similarly, in 2024, Etched recruited Brian Loiler, a top systems engineer who spent nearly 23 years at Nvidia, to help design servers and racks to integrate its chips into one big system. Loiler, in turn, has hired about a dozen engineers from Nvidia for Etched, according to the report.
Nvidia and Etched did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
