President Donald Trump congratulated Indiana State Senator Chris Garten on being unanimously voted by his colleagues as the next Senate President Pro Tempore for the Indiana State Senate, a post announced on August 18. Trump, who endorsed Garten, said the victory completes his effort to work against political leaders in the state Senate who "let our Country down."
"If they did what they should have done, and what every other State did, as requested, we would have had two more seats in the House of Representatives!" Trump wrote. He credited Garten, along with Trevor De Vries, Brian Schmutzler, Blake Fiechter, Tracey Powell, Paula Copenhaver, and Michelle Davis, for defeating their opponents. Trump also thanked Brenda Wilson, saying she will be back next time without the "dirty trick" of two candidates running with the same name.
Trump called on Rod Bray to resign from office, arguing Bray has "no chance of winning" and was responsible for Indiana not gaining two additional Republican seats in the House. "Indiana was the only State this happened with, and I won it six times, in LANDSLIDES, including with the Highest Vote in the History of the State," Trump said. He concluded: "The Indiana State Senate is in good hands with Chris Garten — HE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!"
