President Donald Trump on August 18 endorsed Mike Mazzei for governor of Oklahoma, calling him a "MAGA Warrior" and criticizing runoff opponent Gentner Drummond as a "fake Republican." Trump highlighted his own electoral performance in the state, noting he was "the ONLY President to win ALL 77 Counties in three straight Elections" and that he won more votes than any candidate in state history.
Trump's endorsement praised Mazzei's support for a proposed aluminum plant in Inola, Oklahoma, which Trump called "one of the best projects ever conceived" and a "financial windfall" for the state. He accused Drummond of opposing the plant and even suing to block it, while claiming the plant would create jobs, lower taxes, and benefit national security. Trump added that Drummond "has also stated publicly he had 'no opinion' on the BOGUS IMPEACHMENT" of Trump.
Trump further attacked Drummond for donating to President Joe Biden and the Lincoln Project, a group Trump described as "totally corrupt and anti-American." He referenced allegations against Lincoln Project founder John Weaver and Steve Schmidt, and criticized Drummond for opposing a religious-based charter school supported by Trump's administration. The runoff election is scheduled for August 25th.
