Trump: University of Miami donates 1994 ibogaine IND application

Trump's Truth Social latest posts08-19 00:57

On August 18, President Donald Trump announced that the University of Miami has donated its original 1994 Ibogaine Investigational New Drug (IND) application to the federal government. The gift, described as a "Historic Gift" by Secretary Kennedy, provides direct access to the foundational FDA authorization to accelerate development of ibogaine as a medical treatment for serious mental illness, particularly for veterans.

Trump noted that in April he signed an executive order to accelerate medical treatments for serious mental illness, specifically psychedelic drugs including ibogaine. He said the drug has helped many veterans and American heroes who were with him in the Oval Office and Joe Rogan. The president stated that since April, there has been "INCREDIBLE PROGRESS" including HHS research funding, collaboration between HHS and VA, and FDA guidance.

Trump emphasized that the administration is moving fast so that veterans with serious mental illness have a "RIGHT TO TRY" in the U.S. He thanked the University of Miami for acting to ensure Americans are helped as quickly as possible and expressed hope that more companies and institutions will join the effort.
