在经历了数周的相对平静之后，美国军方周日袭击了伊朗准备向霍尔木兹海峡投放水雷的火箭发射装置。
美国中央司令部发言人Tim Hawkins表示，伊斯兰革命卫队部队正准备利用火箭向该海峡投放水雷。
美军上周表示，已完成清除海峡航运路在线的水雷。霍尔木兹海峡曾是一条国际水道，全球五分之一的石油和液化天然气经由此处运输。
Hawkins说：“美军正在密切监控该地区，并随时准备保护这条重要水道的商业自由流通。”
这是美国一个多月来首次对伊朗采取军事行动。美国总统唐纳德·特朗普先前转向采取施压行动，试图挤压伊朗的经济。
美国上一次向伊朗目标发射导弹是在7月底。此后，特朗普政府一直计划展开一场经济施压行动，借由挤压伊朗经济，迫使其回到谈判桌前。
伊朗最高外交官周五表示，在与冲突调解方卡塔尔进行了他所谓的“富有创意的讨论”之后，恢复与美国的外交接触“并非不可能”。
伊朗外长阿巴斯·阿拉格齐在社群媒体上发文称，能否取得进展“取决于美国能否理解一个简单的事实：施压行不通。”
