On October 26, President Donald Trump used X to accuse the U.S. Senate of letting a Daylight Saving bill “die” and to press for a vote.
Trump argued that a “vast majority” of Americans support more evening light and that “all” Americans want to stop changing clocks. “The United States Senate is letting the Daylight Saving Bill die, when a vast Majority of the Country want it,” he wrote, adding, “TAKE A VOTE!”
He cited The New York Post to underscore his point, quoting: “Lawmakers in Washington have tried to kill the clock change for good, and this summer the House overwhelmingly passed the Sunshine Protection Act, 308-117, which would make Daylight Saving Time permanent year-round.” He further relayed from the same report that “That bill, however, remains locked in the Senate, meaning Daylight Saving Time will end as regularly scheduled to the disappointment of many Americans.”
The post did not add details beyond those citations but framed the Senate as the obstacle to advancing permanent Daylight Saving Time.
