On October 26, President Donald Trump used X to criticize TV host Bill Maher and claimed he holds 98-99% support within the Republican Party.
Trump described Maher’s HBO program as low-rated and said he repeatedly declined to appear on the show. He recounted two White House meetings he says were arranged by Chuck LaBella and musician Kid Rock, adding LaBella made “ten calls” to pursue a second session. Trump wrote that the second meeting “didn’t last four hours,” estimating it at “two hours, maybe less,” and alleged Maher relied on a “laughter machine” and appeared intoxicated. Referring to any invitation to appear on Maher’s program, Trump added, “It won’t happen!”
Citing CNN, Trump asserted he has “98 and 99%” support among Republicans and said “Ronald Reagan was at 86%.” He also referenced another CNN survey on the most popular figures in Republican Party history, claiming results of 53% for Trump, 18% for Reagan, and 8% for Abraham Lincoln. He further touted what he called an endorsement record of 98% in the House and 100% in the Senate.
Trump denied any plan to build a swimming pool in the White House Briefing Room but said he is considering moving the press to a different location. He alleged California had “recently found” 20,000 illegal voters and said the total could exceed 1,000,000. Disputing Maher’s views on Iran, Trump wrote that taking “the Nuclear Weapon away from Iran” was the right course. Source: X
