Actually there's another way to look at this: why not have both? I can be at my stable salaried job from 9-5. The after hours or weekends is free for earning extra with the more volatile/adhoc side hustles. In investing, one might prefer the stable boring div stocks, but he could also have some fun and excitement with trendy hot stocks with some limited exposure? So this pretty risk averse person can probably  allocate some 90% to the  dividend stocks and limit the risk with 10% allocation to fun trading.

$DBS(D05.SI)$  It really depends on the lifestyle and life circumstance (single/family/health etc).  There are also different definition of "retirements". Some want to enjoy life and spend, some just want to chill with slower life but probably continue to earn some income. So this number is pretty meaningless without deeper context.  My personal number would be S$1.5M (in today's dollar). It must generate enough passive income to fully cover my (+family) living expenses (today's dollar term) with some buffer to absorb occasional indulgence or luxury spendings (nothing fancy, just maybe have an expensive meals or buying time/comfort when needed). It also has to continue to be invested and grow at least inline wi

$7 ba.Dont really like to predict stock price... It will be higher than the current price level for sure (ok, maybe). All the current developments are definitely positive for SIA and given SIA track record, it should be back to profitability soon... Hopefully buying back the MCBs then pay me dividends. Hopefully.Actually how big is the number of shares going around now...

So the post need to be at least 200chars. Let me try...I think $Tesla Motors(TSLA)$and China Tech Giants belong to different regime. It's sad to see all of the Chinese techs getting pitched against a single tsla.... but with the current uncertainty ard the US listed chinese stocks. I will avoid adding more of the Chinese stocks. So just for this choices, my money goes to TSLA....
