ForDidi Global Inc., whose shares have lost more than half of their value since going public, it’s a different story.\nIt’s lost $40 billion in market value since the June IPO-- a stunning blow for what was expected to be one of the largest and most successful deals in 2021.\nCertain company directors and executives that hold shares as well as firms that invested in Didi ahead of the listing have been spectators to the stock’s collapse, restricted from selling for a customary 180-day period after its public sale. Come Monday when that lock-up ends, they have a decision to make: sell now -- potentially for a loss -- or wait months for more clarity on Didi’s plans to list in Hong Kong.\n“Once Didi lists in Hong Kong, the dark cloud of uncertainty will largely dissipate, which would be positive for the shares,” Jason Hsu, founder and chief investment officer of Rayliant Global Advisors said.\nDidi shares closed down 0.5% in New York on Thursday to a record low of $5.60.\nUber Technologies Inc., which owned 11.9% of the company right after the IPO in June, isn’t planning to sell immediately upon the expiration of the lock-up, according to a company spokesperson. Chances are other early investors also stay on the sidelines, according to analysts.\n“Optically, it would be quite a bad look if insiders started reducing holdings materially with the plan for a delisting in the US and offering in HK in the new year so I wouldn’t expect too many to be selling just yet,” according to Matthew Kanterman, an analyst at Bloomberg Intelligence. “Insiders selling a significant number of shares given all of these uncertainties and risks would be a very bad message to the market.”\nThe lockup applies to company directors, executive officers and holders that own at least 90% of total share capital. SoftBank Group Corp. and Tencent Holdings Ltd.were listed as holders as of June, while Didi’s directors and executives collectively held about a 10% stake in the company, according to the IPO prospectus.\nDidi, SoftBank and Tencent didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment.\nDidi’s migration to Hong Kong may provide investors with an alternative, albeit a protracted one. Bloomberg News reported earlier this month the company had begun setting the groundwork to withdraw from U.S. and was aiming to file the paperwork to start trading in Hong Kong around March. Based on the typical process there, it could target a summer listing.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"DIDI":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1731,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":895952271,"gmtCreate":1628719538293,"gmtModify":1676529828496,"author":{"id":"3576913663838291","authorId":"3576913663838291","name":"Heelaary","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/7c9814831d549a9d15e32a2fa9a89c9d","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3576913663838291","idStr":"3576913663838291"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like pls ","listText":"Like pls ","text":"Like pls","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/895952271","repostId":"1197984437","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1197984437","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1628695457,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1197984437?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-08-11 23:24","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Bitcoin ETF Filing Flood Collides With Cooling Demand for Funds","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1197984437","media":"finance.yahoo","summary":"(Bloomberg) -- U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Chair Gary Gensler ignited a fresh wave of op","content":"
(Bloomberg) -- U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Chair Gary Gensler ignited a fresh wave of optimism among Bitcoin exchange-traded fund advocates this month -- but it’s unclear whether investors share that enthusiasm.
\n
Digital-asset investment products from Grayscale, Bitwise, 21Shares and others saw outflows for the fifth straight week, the longest such streak since January 2018, according to data compiled by CoinShares. The outflows total roughly $93 million over that stretch. Much of it is thanks to money being yanked away from Bitcoin products, according to the digital-asset manager.
\n
The cooling appetite stands in contrast to the growing pile of cryptocurrency ETF filings, with at least 18 applications landing with the SEC this year. That tally grew by three in the past two weeks after Gensler signaled that regulators may be more open to a Bitcoin ETF if it was based around futures rather than the cryptocurrency itself. However, even if the SEC finally green-lights the fund structure, it’s not a sure bet that a Bitcoin ETF would be met with huge demand, according to Meltem Demirors of Coinshares.
\n
“There’s so many venues for people to buy and sell Bitcoin, to get exposure to Bitcoin in tax-managed accounts,” said Demirors, chief strategy officer at CoinShares. “We’re not really sure what the demand will look like because is the maturation of crypto in the U.S. is already quite high.”
\n
After setting an all-time high of nearly $65,000 in April, Bitcoin resumed its volatile price swings. The world’s largest cryptocurrency dropped below $30,000 in June as environmental and regulatory concerns hammered sentiment. Bitcoin has since rebounded to more than $46,000, even as the U.S. Senate passed an infrastructure bill that would allow for broad oversight of virtual currencies.
\n
However, fund flows have yet to match the rebound. Bitcoin funds and futures are on track for a third straight month of outflows, the longest streak in data going back to 2014, according to Bloomberg Intelligence. The outflows total roughly $93 million over that stretch. Much of it is thanks to money being yanked away from Bitcoin products, according to the digital-asset manager.\nThe cooling appetite stands in contrast to the growing pile of cryptocurrency ETF filings, with at least 18 applications landing with the SEC this year. That tally grew by three in the past two weeks after Gensler signaled that regulators may be more open to a Bitcoin ETF if it was based around futures rather than the cryptocurrency itself. However, even if the SEC finally green-lights the fund structure, it’s not a sure bet that a Bitcoin ETF would be met with huge demand, according to Meltem Demirors of Coinshares.\n“There’s so many venues for people to buy and sell Bitcoin, to get exposure to Bitcoin in tax-managed accounts,” said Demirors, chief strategy officer at CoinShares. “We’re not really sure what the demand will look like because is the maturation of crypto in the U.S. is already quite high.”\nAfter setting an all-time high of nearly $65,000 in April, Bitcoin resumed its volatile price swings. The world’s largest cryptocurrency dropped below $30,000 in June as environmental and regulatory concerns hammered sentiment. Bitcoin has since rebounded to more than $46,000, even as the U.S. Senate passed an infrastructure bill that would allow for broad oversight of virtual currencies.\nHowever, fund flows have yet to match the rebound. Bitcoin funds and futures are on track for a third straight month of outflows, the longest streak in data going back to 2014, according to Bloomberg Intelligence. The bulk of that decline is due to decreasing open interest in Bitcoin futures, meaning traders let their contracts roll off without renewing.\nThe outflows might even be bigger, if not for the fact that the $30 billion Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (ticker GBTC) -- the largest crypto fund -- doesn’t allow for share redemptions. That’s after shares of the trust ballooned by the hundreds of millions earlier this year amid the crypto craze.
