Singapore, Malaysia Ink Deal Creating New Vast Economic Zone

Significant progress has been reported on the Johor Bahru – Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link Project. Civil infrastructure works have progressed substantially on both sides of the border, with Singapore completing more than 80% of overall works and Malaysia reaching approximately 93% completion of railway infrastructure.

When operational, the RTS Link will connect Bukit Chagar in Johor Bahru to Woodlands North in Singapore, offering capacity for 10,000 passengers per hour in each direction. The journey time between stations is expected to be approximately five minutes, with passenger service targeted for December 2026.

With this curial factor, leads my thoughts on a Southeast asia conglomerate SEA.Three of its associate branches is performing well:

Shopee's revenue reached $3.2 billion, a 43% year-over-year (YoY) increase, driven by a 24% YoY rise in gross orders (2.8 billion) and a 25% YoY growth in gross merchandise value (GMV) to $25.1 billion. User engagement remained strong, with average monthly active buyers increasing by over 20% YoY.

SeaMoney experienced significant growth, fueled by its consumer and SME credit services. Loan principal outstanding surged 73% YoY to $4.6 billion, with 4 million new borrowers added, increasing total active users to 24 million, up 60% YoY. This growth leveraged Shopee's large buyer and seller network.

Garena, the gaming arm, reported $498 million in Q3 revenue, down 16% YoY. Despite declining revenue over the past 10 quarters, bookings rose by 24% YoY to $557 million. Revenue growth lagged due to a larger portion of earnings being deferred to future periods.

The new economic zone will surely become a fuel Singapore’s economy, a potential growth booster for $Sea Ltd(SE)$
