TA on Amazon why I sell
Selling Amazon at $237.65: A Technical Analysis Decision
I decided to sell Amazon (AMZN) at $237.65, locking in profits based on multiple technical indicators signaling a potential short-term correction. While Amazon remains a strong long-term play, the current chart suggests a volatile downward trend, and I prefer to secure gains rather than risk a pullback.
1. Resistance and Recent Highs
Amazon recently peaked at $241.77, forming a local resistance level. The stock has struggled to maintain upward momentum since then, with sellers stepping in at higher prices. The inability to break and sustain new highs is often a bearish signal, indicating that buyers are losing strength.
2. Moving Averages Converging
The 5-day EMA (236.46) and 10-day EMA (234.41) are very close to the current price, showing that short-term momentum is fading. Additionally, the 20-day EMA (230.80) and 30-day EMA (227.85) suggest that if Amazon breaks below $230, it could trigger further downside movement. Meanwhile, the 120-day EMA (207.87) remains far below, reinforcing that any deeper correction could test this level in the medium term.
3. MACD Weakening
The MACD (12,26,9) histogram shows declining momentum, with the DIF (4.57) slightly above the DEA (3.95). While still in positive territory, the MACD is beginning to flatten out, suggesting that bullish momentum is losing steam. If the MACD crosses downward, it could confirm a short-term bearish trend.
4. Trendline Shows Volatility
The system-generated note “02/03 Showing a volatile downward trend” confirms my observation. The price action has become choppy, meaning risk is increasing. I would rather sell into strength than hold through potential downside risk.
Conclusion: Taking Profits Before a Pullback
Selling at $237.65 allows me to lock in gains near resistance, avoiding potential downside risks in the short term. If Amazon dips toward $227-$230, I may consider re-entering once the trend stabilizes. For now, I’m happy to secure profits and wait for a better setup.$Amazon.com(AMZN)$
