Although MicroStrategy (MSTR) is often perceived to mirror Bitcoin’s momentum, its stock has recently diverged. While Bitcoin surged to a new all-time high of around $124,000 in mid-August 2025, MSTR continued its downward slide.
Over the past week, the stock had been range-bound between 420 and 360, but the 360 support finally broke. MSTR dropped further to the $330 level, finding technical support at the 200-day EMA. On the latest trading day, MSTR bounced more than 6% intraday off the 200-day EMA, aided by broader market optimism following speculation of a Fed rate cut in September.
The bounce is welcome, but I remain cautious on whether it’s sustainable and continue to maintain a defensive stance on MSTR.
Options Strategy
I’ve been selling weekly cash-secured puts (CSPs) with far-out strikes, largely without the intent of assignment. That said, if the stock were to dip down to my strike levels—which often align with key supports—I’d be open to taking assignment, as those levels could mark potential reversal points.
