Big Tech in Turmoil: Will Apple and Amazon Ignite a Epic Comeback?

Buckle up, investors—Big Tech's earnings season is delivering gut punches left and right, but all eyes are locked on Apple and Amazon to flip the script. With Alphabet standing tall as the lone victor amid a sea of disappointments from Meta and Microsoft, the pressure is on these two giants to restore faith in the sector. Meta's shares cratered after ballooning AI costs overshadowed solid revenue, while Microsoft's cloud growth fell short, sending its stock sliding despite overall strong numbers. Alphabet, on the other hand, surged thanks to robust ad revenue and cloud momentum, proving not everyone's stumbling.

Now, enter Apple and Amazon, reporting after the bell today—the potential catalysts to reverse the faltering tide. For Apple, the spotlight burns brightest on iPhone sales amid whispers of a supercycle fueled by AI integrations and the iPhone 17 lineup. Analysts project fiscal Q4 revenue hitting $102.17 billion, a solid jump from last year, with earnings per share at $1.78. Services like the App Store, Apple Music, and Apple Pay are expected to shine, potentially growing double digits and offsetting any hardware hiccups. But China's market remains a wild card—will tariffs and competition dent performance, or will overseas expansion in emerging regions like India deliver surprises? Supply chain resilience is another hot button; any hints of stability could propel shares toward that elusive $300 mark, especially if iPhone demand signals a multi-year upgrade wave.

Amazon, meanwhile, is poised to showcase its e-commerce dominance and AWS powerhouse status. Consensus forecasts Q3 revenue at around $178 billion, up 12% year-over-year, with EPS climbing to $1.57. E-commerce growth should reflect resilient consumer spending, but the real excitement brews in AWS, where cloud revenue is tipped to accelerate thanks to AI-driven demand—think enterprises scaling up with generative tools. Advertising profits are another key lever, expected to contribute handsomely as brands flock to Amazon's platforms. Logistics efficiencies will be scrutinized too; better cost management could widen margins and signal Amazon's readiness to outpace rivals. If AWS crushes it and holiday guidance sparkles, this could be the moment Amazon closes the gap on frontrunners, reigniting investor hype.

The big question: Can these laggards spark a rally? Apple's stock lingers up just 10% this year, trailing the pack, but a beat on iPhone metrics and bullish AI roadmap could shatter resistance levels. Amazon's up a modest 4%, but AWS firepower and ad surges might catapult it back into Magnificent Seven leadership. Skeptics point to broader headwinds like trade tensions and AI spending scrutiny, yet optimists see untapped potential in services and cloud.

Here's a breakdown of key expectations versus prior quarters:

$Apple(AAPL)$ $Amazon.com(AMZN)$ $Meta Platforms, Inc.(META)$ $NVIDIA(NVDA)$ $Tesla Motors(TSLA)$

If Apple unleashes iPhone magic and Amazon's cloud empire expands, we could witness a sector-wide rebound. Or will ongoing AI bubbles and tariff fears drag them down? The answers unfold soon—stay tuned for the fireworks that could redefine Big Tech's trajectory.

  • Nasdaq futures are up nearly 300 but msft is up only a few Pennies. I wonder how long it’s likely to remain a dead stock.
