Wall Street's main indexes closed lower on Friday(Jan 30) as investors viewed President Donald Trump's nomination of former Federal Reserve Governor Kevin Warsh as a hawkish choice to succeed Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, while also digesting earnings reports and a high inflation reading.
Regarding the options market, a total volume of 76,104,217 contracts was traded on Friday.

$SoFi Technologies Inc.(SOFI)$ fell 6.3% on Friday. The fintech reported a strong fourth quarter, with adjusted net revenue reaching $1 billion for the first time, and revenue growing across all three of its core business segments. CEO Anthony Noto described the results as “exceptional” in an interview with Barron’s.
A total number of 1.02M options related to SoFi were traded on Friday, up 89% from the previous trading day, of which call options accounted for 61%. Particularly high volume was seen for the $21 strike put option expiring Feb 20, 2026, with 22,585 contracts trading.

$SPDR Gold ETF(GLD)$ tumbled 10% on Friday as Front-month gold futures plunged 11% to $4,713.90 a troy ounce, their steepest one-day decline since January 1980.
A total number of 3.12M options related to GLD were traded on Friday, up 61% from the previous trading day, of which call options accounted for 67%. Particularly high volume was seen for the $500 strike call option expiring Feb 20, 2026, with 267,390 contracts trading.
