$ASML $KLAC $SNPS — Mapping Semiconductor Bottlenecks and Moats

The global semiconductor supply chain is built on a handful of "unblockable" monopolies.

My infographic attempts to map out the bottlenecks in the supply chain. What’s currently the best investment opportunity in the sector?

$Synopsys(SNPS)$ $Cadence Design(CDNS)$ $TE Connectivity(TEL)$ $ASML Holding NV(ASML)$ $Lam Research(LRCX)$ $Applied Materials(AMAT)$ $KLA-Tencor(KLAC)$

My views:

1.Many investors new to semis jump straight to ASML. I think it’s worth digging into as many semi companies as you can, understanding what they do, how they compete and how they contribute to the supply chain.

Chip Wars is a great read.

2.KLA makes tools that chipmakers need to use to keep production running smoothly and yields high, so its business stays relatively steady over time.

In contrast, ASML relies more on selling very expensive machines that customers buy in big, irregular bursts, making its revenue more cyclical.

3.Probably ASML in the long term. It is monopolistic with 10 years of advantage over its closest competitor. Probably one of the strongest moats in the market.
