Cloud computing and the infrastructure necessary for these companies to farm/hold data is looking to gain strong long term potential imho. I don't see this as a fly-by, quick burn project. Highly integrative technologies are becoming woven into the very real fabric of our day to day, seamlessly almost. From our internet browsers, to our mobile phones, iot's, to education, retail, defence, and medical/pharma, energy even - there is no future proofing from AI tech, cloud services/memory chip, integrated infrastructure and services. And the tech race to fully integrate AI into them has come to a fraction of it's potential and capability. Companies are raising hundreds of millions to get a piece of the market and make history as we see all of this unfold from a fairly abstract computer engineering point of view, to everyday useable technologies. It's exciting - albeit a little scary. Data is the new currency. Our digital footprints will be virtually unerasable. Governments will be using facial recognition databases to link each citizen to extensive information gathered by iot's, data farming and trackers and tracers. Hospitals, Schools, Defence forces, and everyday companies will integrate this technology as I suspect COVID allowed them to begin and collect at a rate determined by them. Camera's recording 24/7 activity and productivity rates calculated by surveillance, police body cams, anything filming us and our activities becomes a gatherer of real, saveable data forever. Algorithmic programmes and AI will help corale data necessary for advertising - and who doesn't advertise? Let alone previously private data around our browsing and posting history, etc. Could privacy apps and devices be a niche for the prevention of data being hijacked or leaked from nefarious individuals or corporations who then onsell the data and on and on it goes. We have already seen compromised passwords, personal information sold on the dark web (and what will the dark web become with more firepower through more cloud services and access to it?), cyberweapon warfare, leaks via Apple, big banks, internet data etc. But where is the failsafe and shade from all this information enlightenment...
