Why Palantir’s Extraordinary Growth May Still Not Be Enough for Its Valuation

$Palantir Technologies Inc.(PLTR)$’s first-quarter results placed it among the fastest-growing large enterprise-software companies. The question is no longer whether demand for its artificial-intelligence platform is expanding, but whether growth can remain exceptional long enough to justify one of the market’s highest valuations.

Palantir reported first-quarter revenue of approximately $1.63 billion, up 85% year over year. US revenue increased 104% to $1.28 billion, while US commercial revenue surged 133% to $595 million. Adjusted free cash flow reached $925 million, representing a 57% margin. Palantir’s first-quarter business update provides the figures.

Management raised expected 2026 revenue growth to approximately 71% and projected US commercial revenue of more than $3.22 billion, implying growth of at least 120%. Palantir’s official earnings release confirms the upgraded guidance.

The bullish case is that Palantir’s Artificial Intelligence Platform is moving beyond experimental projects. Its software connects AI models to customers’ operational data, security rules and decision-making processes. Once deeply embedded, replacing the platform can become operationally difficult, supporting retention and pricing power.

Government demand provides another growth engine. The US Army’s enterprise agreement allows purchases of as much as $10 billion over ten years, although this is a contractual ceiling rather than guaranteed revenue. Palantir is also benefiting from rising spending on military data analysis and autonomous systems.

The risks are valuation, customer concentration and political controversy. At $131.53 on July 27, Palantir traded near 148 times trailing earnings. That valuation requires unusually strong growth and leaves the shares sensitive to even moderate deceleration. A proposed £50 million London police contract was blocked on values-and-ethics grounds, which Palantir challenged on July 9. Reuters’ report on the disputed contract illustrates the reputational and procurement risks.

Palantir rose approximately 7% on July 27 from a previous close near $123.

PLTR’s weekly chart remains in a broader descending channel, but the recent price action is becoming more constructive as the stock consolidates between roughly $120 and $138 near the channel’s upper boundary. A decisive weekly close above $138–$140, ideally supported by stronger volume and followed by a successful retest, would signal a potential breakout from both the short-term range and the larger corrective structure, opening a path toward approximately $150–$160, with $175 as a secondary target if momentum strengthens.

Until that confirmation appears, $Palantir Technologies Inc.(PLTR)$ is still vulnerable to rejection and a retest of $120, while a break below that level could expose the lower channel area near $105–$110. A defined-risk way to trade the bullish setup would be a 60–90 DTE $140/$160 call debit spread, entered only after a confirmed weekly breakout, which reduces premium cost and time-decay exposure compared with buying a naked call.

The business evidence leans bullish, but the valuation makes the stock outlook more cautious than the operating results. The thesis would be strengthened by continued commercial growth above management’s expectations and durable free-cash-flow margins. It would be invalidated by meaningful growth deceleration, weaker contract conversion or margin pressure that makes the current valuation difficult to sustain.
