AI Needs Copper. These $COPX Miners Could Benefit Next 🟠

Copper is becoming one of the most important commodities in the next phase of the AI and electrification cycle. 🟠

AI data centers need power and massive amounts of wiring. EVs require significantly more copper than traditional vehicles. Power grids, robotics, defense and industrial electrification are adding another layer of demand.

And the supply side is getting tighter.

Copper recently pushed above $14,700 per tonne as strong demand from power grids and EVs collided with tight supply.

The problem is that new mines cannot be brought online quickly. Exploration, permitting, financing and construction can take years, while existing mines face declining grades and rising costs.

That creates an interesting setup for copper miners. πŸ‘€

⛏️ Major producers
$BHP Billiton(BHP)$ $Freeport-McMoRan(FCX)$ $Southern Copper Corp(SCCO)$ $Teck Resources Ltd(TECK)$ $Rio Tinto PLC(RIO)$

πŸš€ Growth and mid-tier names
$TREKOR METALS(TGB)$ $HudBay Minerals(HBM)$ $Ero Copper(ERO)$

πŸ“Š Broad copper exposure
$Global X Copper Miners ETF(COPX)$

🎯 Higher-risk exploration plays
$Trilogy Metals(TMQ)$ $Northern Dynasty Minerals(NAK)$ $Ivanhoe Electric Inc.(IE)$ $Caledonia Mining Corporation Plc(CMCL)$

The bigger thesis is simple:

AI β†’ more data centers β†’ more power demand ⚑️
More power β†’ more grid investment πŸ”Œ
More electrification β†’ more copper 🟠

The U.S. is already forecasting record electricity demand in 2026 and 2027, with AI data centers and electrification among the key drivers.

If copper demand keeps accelerating while supply takes years to respond, the miners could become an increasingly important part of the next infrastructure cycle.

I’m keeping $COPX and the strongest copper names firmly on the watchlist. πŸ‘€πŸŸ
