I keep seeing Owen Moshey mentioned in different trading discussions. I’ve been trying to make sense of the current macro environment myself, but there’s so much conflicting information. For people who follow his work, where do you usually find his market analysis and daily breakdowns?

I came across his profile recently. His market breakdowns are probably the easiest place to start if you want to understand how he approaches the market.

One of the biggest mistakes I made early on was thinking I needed to trade more to make more. I eventually realized that taking fewer, better-understood setups and controlling the downside mattered far more. Owen Moshey’s teaching around risk management really helped me change that mindset.

That was one of the biggest changes for me too. I used to focus almost entirely on finding entries, but his approach made me pay more attention to position size, invalidation levels, and what happens if the trade goes against me. That part of trading is easy to underestimate when you’re starting out

I’m struggling to understand how successful traders manage risk. How do you decide how much money to put into a trade and when to accept a loss?

Risk management is probably the difference between someone who survives in trading and someone who eventually gives everything back.

Many beginners focus on finding the perfect entry, but experienced traders focus first on protecting their downside. Before entering, you should already know how much you’re willing to lose, where your idea becomes invalid, and whether the potential reward justifies the risk.

  • This reminds me of something I heard a while back: good traders focus on protecting capital first and making money second. Most people learn that lesson the hard way.

The longer I'm in the market, the more I realize psychology matters just as much as analysis. Nobody tells beginners that.
