Hedge fund algos start selling everything the moment one ticker misses on earnings, and the reaction is the whole market goes down. That is just ridiculous. $Western Digital(WDC)$ touched 400+ and was about to recover, then this happened. Now it has to crawl back up slowly again.
The strange part is only chipmakers are posting spectacular earnings, yet they get dragged down too. $SK hynix(SKHY)$ $SanDisk Corp.(SNDK)$ $Seagate Technology PLC(STX)$ are sold out on memory through 2028, and still we get to see them down. They are making billions, but retail isn't allowed to make a penny. What is the SEC even doing? Sleeping, I guess.
