⚡🐱 Why I Am Bullish on Constellation Energy (CEG) – The Nuclear Energy Giant That Could Benefit From the AI Revolution

🚀 Introduction: The Next Big Opportunity May Be in Energy

When investors talk about artificial intelligence, the first companies that usually come to mind are Nvidia, Microsoft, Amazon, Google and other technology giants. But I believe there is another important part of the AI revolution that investors should not overlook: electricity.

AI requires enormous computing power. Behind every AI model, data centre, cloud platform and advanced semiconductor is an infrastructure system that consumes electricity around the clock.

This is where I become interested in Constellation Energy (NASDAQ: CEG).

I see Constellation Energy as an interesting way to participate in the growing demand for electricity, particularly as the United States expands its data centre infrastructure and looks for reliable sources of power.

I am bullish because I believe electricity could become one of the most important resources in the next decade. Technology companies can continue investing billions of dollars in AI chips and data centres, but those investments will need a dependable electricity supply to operate.

Constellation Energy has something particularly valuable: a large nuclear energy business that can provide reliable electricity throughout the day and night.

For me, this is an interesting investment theme because I am not simply looking at another technology company. I am looking at the infrastructure supporting the next generation of technology.

1️⃣ Why Am I Making This Trade Now?

My bullish view comes from three major developments.

First, AI infrastructure is expanding rapidly. Second, electricity demand is becoming increasingly important to the American economy. Third, nuclear energy is receiving renewed attention as governments and businesses look for reliable, lower-carbon electricity.

I believe these developments could create opportunities for companies that already own and operate large power-generation facilities.

When I look at Constellation Energy, I see a company positioned in an industry that could benefit from these structural changes.

I do not expect every AI-related stock to rise indefinitely. Technology valuations can become expensive, and investors can become overly optimistic. However, electricity is a real requirement rather than simply an exciting investment story.

Whether companies use AI, cloud computing, machine learning or traditional data processing, they still need electricity.

That is why I want to pay attention to the companies supplying the power.

2️⃣ What Exactly Does Constellation Energy Do?

Constellation Energy is one of the largest electricity producers in the United States and a major operator of nuclear power plants.

Its business includes several types of electricity generation:

* Nuclear energy

* Natural gas

* Hydroelectric power

* Wind energy

* Solar energy

* Other power-generation assets

However, the main reason I am interested in CEG is its nuclear energy business.

Nuclear power is different from renewable sources such as solar and wind because it can generate electricity continuously, regardless of whether the sun is shining or the wind is blowing.

This is important for data centres.

A data centre cannot simply stop operating because the weather changes. Servers, cooling systems, networking equipment and AI computing infrastructure need a stable electricity supply.

For this reason, reliable power generation is becoming an increasingly important part of the AI investment story.

I believe companies with established nuclear infrastructure could become strategically important as electricity demand increases.

3️⃣ Why Nuclear Energy Is Becoming Important Again

For many years, nuclear energy was not necessarily the most exciting investment theme.

Investors were more interested in electric vehicles, solar panels, battery technology and semiconductor companies.

But the energy conversation is changing.

The expansion of AI and cloud computing is forcing businesses and governments to reconsider how much electricity they will need in the future.

Solar and wind energy have important roles to play, but their production depends on weather conditions. Battery storage can help balance supply and demand, but large-scale storage also requires investment.

Nuclear power offers another solution.

A nuclear power station can produce substantial quantities of electricity continuously, making it suitable for supporting industrial operations and data centres.

I am not suggesting nuclear energy has no disadvantages. Nuclear plants require substantial capital, strict safety procedures, regulatory approvals and careful management of radioactive waste.

However, I believe the growing need for dependable electricity makes nuclear energy worth watching again.

For CEG, an existing nuclear fleet is a significant competitive advantage because building an entirely new nuclear power station is a complicated and lengthy process.

4️⃣ The AI Data Centre Connection

This is probably my favourite part of the Constellation Energy investment story.

When Nvidia sells more AI chips, the demand for computing infrastructure increases.

When Microsoft expands its cloud business, it needs more servers and data centres.

When Amazon expands its AWS infrastructure, it needs additional electricity.

The same applies to Google and other major technology companies.

I see a connection between the growth of AI and the growth of electricity demand.

Think about the investment chain:

1. Technology companies invest in AI infrastructure.

2. Data centres purchase servers, networking equipment and cooling systems.

3. These facilities require substantial electricity.

4. Electricity producers must expand or improve their generation capacity.

5. Companies with reliable power-generation assets could benefit from increased demand.

This is why I do not want to focus only on the companies producing AI chips.

I also want to study the businesses supporting the infrastructure behind those chips.

In my opinion, CEG gives investors exposure to an important part of that infrastructure.

5️⃣ The Calpine Acquisition: A Bigger Energy Business

Another development worth understanding is Constellation Energy’s acquisition of Calpine.

The acquisition brought together nuclear, natural gas and geothermal generation assets with Constellation’s existing electricity-generation and commercial platform.

This is important because electricity demand does not always need to be met by one particular energy source.

Different generation technologies can complement one another.

Nuclear power provides dependable baseload generation, while natural gas plants can provide additional flexibility to meet changing electricity demand.

A broader generation portfolio could give Constellation more ways to serve customers and manage changing energy-market conditions.

Of course, acquisitions also bring risks.

Integration costs, financing requirements, debt levels and operational execution need to be monitored.

I want to see management demonstrate that the enlarged business can generate sustainable earnings rather than simply becoming bigger.

For me, the success of this acquisition will depend on how effectively the company combines its assets and turns them into stronger cash flows.

6️⃣ Financial Performance: What Is Happening Behind the Story?

I do not want to invest in a company simply because nuclear energy is popular.

I also want to look at its financial performance.

In its second-quarter 2026 results, Constellation reported adjusted operating earnings of US$2.55 per share, compared with US$1.91 in the same quarter of 2025.

More importantly, the company raised its full-year 2026 adjusted operating earnings guidance to US$11.50–US$12.50 per share.

This is an encouraging development because it shows that management expects stronger earnings for the year.

However, I also pay attention to the difference between adjusted earnings and GAAP earnings.

For the second quarter, GAAP net income was US$1.42 per share, compared with US$2.67 in the previous year’s corresponding quarter.

This reminds me that investors should not look at just one financial figure.

I want to understand the reasons behind differences in reported earnings, including acquisition-related adjustments, commodity-market movements and operating costs.

I would rather see sustainable operating performance than depend on temporary accounting adjustments.

For a company like CEG, I would monitor:

* Revenue growth.

* Adjusted operating earnings per share.

* Free cash flow.

* Capital expenditure.

* Debt and interest expenses.

* Nuclear plant operating performance.

* Long-term electricity contracts.

These indicators will help me understand whether the company is turning the electricity-demand opportunity into actual shareholder value.

7️⃣ Long-Term Contracts: Why They Matter

One thing I particularly like about the electricity business is the importance of long-term contracts.

When a company signs a long-term power purchase agreement, it can establish a commercial relationship that lasts many years.

This can provide greater visibility into future revenue and help customers secure electricity supplies.

In August 2026, Constellation announced an additional 920 megawatts of long-term nuclear power purchase agreements.

These agreements have durations of 15 to 20 years and are scheduled to begin between 2029 and 2032.

I find this interesting because it demonstrates that businesses are thinking about electricity requirements well beyond the next quarter.

For investors, long-term agreements can help improve earnings visibility.

However, I would still examine the contract pricing, operating obligations, customer credit quality and costs involved in delivering the electricity.

A large contract is not automatically a profitable contract.

What matters is whether the company can deliver electricity efficiently and generate attractive returns.

8️⃣ A Potential Nuclear Expansion Opportunity

Another development that caught my attention is the US Department of Energy’s conditional financing commitment of up to US$5 billion for Constellation’s nuclear plant upgrades.

The proposed upgrades across eight facilities in Illinois, Maryland and Pennsylvania could add nearly 1.1 gigawatts of generating capacity.

I find this particularly interesting because increasing electricity generation does not always require building an entirely new power station.

Improving existing facilities can potentially increase output from infrastructure that is already operating.

If these projects are completed successfully, Constellation could generate additional electricity from its existing nuclear fleet.

However, I would distinguish between a conditional financing commitment and money that has already been fully disbursed.

Investors should monitor the financing conditions, regulatory approvals, project timelines and actual construction progress.

For me, this is a potential growth catalyst rather than guaranteed future earnings.

9️⃣ Why I Like CEG Compared With Pure Technology Stocks

I am not saying CEG is better than Nvidia or Microsoft.

They operate in different industries and have different business models.

But I like the idea of diversifying across different parts of the AI investment ecosystem.

Technology companies are responsible for developing AI chips, software and cloud platforms.

Energy companies provide the electricity needed to operate that infrastructure.

If I only invest in technology companies, my portfolio may become heavily exposed to semiconductor valuations, technology spending and market sentiment.

By studying electricity producers, I can explore another area that may benefit from the same long-term economic development.

I believe diversification is important, particularly when investors become overly concentrated in one popular sector.

For me, CEG represents an opportunity to study the energy side of the AI revolution.

🔟 What Could Go Wrong?

Even though I am bullish, I do not believe CEG is a risk-free investment.

There are several things I would watch carefully.

1. Valuation risk

A good company does not automatically mean a good stock at every price.

If investors become too optimistic about nuclear energy and AI demand, the share price could rise faster than the company’s actual earnings.

I would compare its valuation with expected earnings growth rather than buying simply because the market is bullish.

2. Interest-rate risk

Energy infrastructure requires substantial capital investment.

Higher borrowing costs can make expansion projects more expensive and reduce the attractiveness of long-term investments.

3. Nuclear operating risk

Nuclear plants require maintenance, regulatory compliance and strict safety management.

Unexpected outages could affect electricity production and earnings.

4. Acquisition integration

The Calpine acquisition creates opportunities, but combining large businesses is not easy.

I would watch whether management achieves the expected operational and financial benefits.

5. Electricity market risk

Electricity prices can fluctuate depending on supply, demand, weather, fuel costs and regional market conditions.

If electricity prices weaken, earnings could be affected.

6. AI demand expectations

The market may already be pricing in significant future electricity demand.

If data centre construction slows or expected electricity consumption is lower than projected, investors could reassess the growth outlook.

This is why I prefer to remain bullish but disciplined.
