SG 🇸🇬 Major Banks - Earnings Release

Singapore Banks Brace for Earnings Season Amid Softening NIMs and Rate Cut Headwinds As an investor with a strong focus on the Singapore banking sector, I'm closely watching the upcoming earnings releases from the nation's three leading financial institutions—UOB $UOB(U11.SI)$  , DBS $DBS Group Holdings(D05.SI)$  , and OCBC $ocbc bank(O39.SI)$  —which are scheduled to be announced starting May 7, 2025. My outlook remains bullish on all three, though the anticipated earnings figures and broader macroeconomic developments warrant a measured and discerni

Young Adults All In Crypto: Making 1 Mln By Stock or Job? Which Is Harder?

$Strategy(MSTR)$ missed Wall Street estimates for both revenue and earnings in Q1 2025, but still reported a 13.7% year-to-date yield on its massive Bitcoin holdings.Revenue for the quarter came in at $111.1 million, a 3.6% drop year-over-year and roughly 5% below analyst expectations.Net loss ballooned to $4.2 billion, or $16.49 per diluted share, far worse than the anticipated $0.11 loss per share. For comparison, the company lost $53.1 million in the same period in 2024.Strategy’s CFO announced that the firm is now raising its Bitcoin yield target for the year to 25%, and setting a $15 billion target for Bitcoin-related gains. At this point, Strategy is essentially all-in on Bitcoin. Interestingly, the market seems to be on board with its model
Young Adults All In Crypto: Making 1 Mln By Stock or Job? Which Is Harder?
TOPShyon: I find $MicroStrategy(MSTR)$ all-in Bitcoin model interesting, but I wouldn’t fully rely on crypto. It’s too volatile and feels more like speculation than a sustainable investment strategy. Despite the hype, the risks are massive—one wrong move and the losses can be huge. Personally, I still prefer stable, growing stocks that build wealth over the long term. I get why many young investors jump into crypto—it feels like the only shot at financial freedom when traditional paths seem out of reach. But going all-in with leverage is dangerous. Fast gains are tempting, but crashes are brutal. Earning 1 million through stocks takes time and patience, but it’s more realistic and stable. Crypto might make you rich fast—or wipe you out just as quickly. I’d rather grow slow than gamble everything. How about you? Come and share your thoughts. @Tiger_comments @TigerStars @Tiger_SG

It finally happened — a 6% drop in Berkshire Hathaway, and suddenly the unthinkable becomes real. After decades of quiet confidence under Warren Buffett’s steady hand, markets are jittery, headlines are swirling, and investors are wondering: is this the beginning of the end for the Oracle’s empire, or is it the best opportunity in years? Let’s break it down. Berkshire’s brand is inseparable from Buffett. His name has stood for trust, prudence, and long-term performance. His annual letters were gospel. His portfolio, a blend of American resilience and business common sense. So when news of his full transition to Greg Abel started circulating, the market reacted—not because Abel is unfit, but because Buffett’s shoes are enormous to fill. It’s emotional. It’s psychological. And yes, it’s a li

I will definitely buy a condominium as prices of property only increases in Singapore. This will make a good investment and also a form of diversification. Definitely no cars as they are depreciating assets. I also don’t have kids to worry about. My current life insurance are already adequate but I might increase coverage. I will set some money for travelling but less so for luxury goods and designer clothing as I value experience more than material comforts. I will put the remaining amount in hedge funds mainly for the sake of diversification and also potentially higher returns. Such sudden wealths are great to boosting lifestyle but also important to manage well and not get into the habit of splurging. But, I don’t buy Toto [Facepalm] @D

Apple’s Tariff Trap: Is $200 a Steal or a Sinking Ship?

Apple’s( $Apple(AAPL)$ ) latest earnings dropped like a bombshell, beating Wall Street expectations with $95.4 billion in revenue and $1.65 EPS—yet the stock still slid 3%. Why? CEO Tim Cook’s stark warning: tariffs could slap a $900 million cost on the current quarter, and beyond June, it’s “very difficult” to predict the damage. With shares hovering around $200, the question looms: Is this a golden opportunity to buy the dip, or are you catching a falling knife with more pain ahead? Let’s break it down, weigh the risks, and decide if Apple’s worth the gamble. The Tariff Cloud Over Cupertino Apple’s Q2 earnings were a win on paper: revenue of $95.4 billion (above $94.66 billion expected) and EPS of $1.65 (beating $1.63 forecasts). iPhone sales hi

33% of HIMS Float Shorted: Is a Massive Squeeze Brewing for May 5th?

I'm investigating the possibility of a short squeeze in HIMS$Hims & Hers Health Inc.(HIMS)$  this Monday. To gauge if momentum is building, I can use platforms like Ortex.com, which offers a proprietary estimate of live short interest, though it’s not exact. Alternatively, I must rely on the New York Stock Exchange’s bi-weekly short interest reports, delayed by 10-15 days. For instance, data from April 15th indicated 60 million shares shorted—33% of HIMS’ float—but by April 30th, it was already outdated. For real-time signals, I’d track borrow fees on sites like Fintel or IBorrowDesk, which indicate shorting demand. Rising fees point to heavy shorting pressure, while a drop may suggest covering. Apple Cites Tariff Costs: Would You Catch the Falling Knife?

Apple shares fell sharply by 5% after CEO Tim Cook warned of uncertainties surrounding tariff-related costs. Despite beating earnings expectations, Cook stated on Thursday that it remains "very difficult" to predict tariff costs beyond June. The company estimates that tariffs could increase its costs by $900 million for the current quarter alone, assuming no additional policy shifts. Apple closed at $205.35 on Friday, marking a 3.74% decline from the previous trading day. The 52-week range was $169.21 to $260.21. While some investors might view this as a buying opportunity, I remain cautious. Personally, I’m not ready to "catch the falling knife" just yet.
