Goldman’s $120 Oil Warning⚠️: What It Means for Stocks, Inflation and the Fed

1.Executive Summary Oil is back at the center of the global market story. Brent crude has climbed toward $100 a barrel, with escalating attacks on vessels around the Strait of Hormuz raising fears that Middle East oil shipments could face a much deeper disruption. Now, $Goldman Sachs(GS)$ is warning that crude could reach as high as $120 a barrel if attacks on maritime shipping intensify. That is not Goldman’s base-case forecast. If regional exports normalize, the bank sees Brent potentially falling toward $80 instead. 📌 Key Insight: The important question isn't simply whether oil reaches $120. It's whether a prolonged oil shock is strong enough to push inflation higher, keep the Fed hawkish and pressure stock valuations. And that co
Goldman’s $120 Oil Warning⚠️: What It Means for Stocks, Inflation and the Fed
TOP苏36: My Take: Oil Is Becoming a Market-Wide Risk I don't think the key question is whether Brent briefly reaches $120. The bigger risk is whether oil stays above $100 for long enough to push inflation expectations higher. If that happens, the impact could spread far beyond energy: higher fuel costs → stronger inflation → fewer Fed cuts or even tighter policy → higher Treasury yields → lower valuations for high-growth stocks. That makes expensive AI and technology names particularly vulnerable, even if their underlying businesses remain strong. Meanwhile, energy producers, refiners and oilfield-service companies could benefit from sustained crude prices. Personally, I would watchHormuz shipping traffic, Brent's ability to hold above $100, CPI/PPI and Treasury yieldsmore closely than the headline $120 target. For me, $120 is the warning signal.Persistent $100+ oil is the real problem. @Capital_Insights [思考]

TOPIreneWells: Compounding works, but calling STI the growth engine in the AI era still feels dated. Dividends are nice, just hard to ignore how slow banks and property compound

TOPglintzi: One beat does not prove the decline is over. CRM revenue growth is still slowing, and AI spend needs real ROI before this moat story holds up.

Apple Event Countdown: What Is the Market Really Watching in the New CEO’s First Test?

Apple’s most important product event of the year is now just around the corner. The company will hold its fall special event on September 9. This will also be the first major product launch under John Ternus since he took over as CEO on September 1. So this time, the market may be looking at much more than just “what’s new in the next iPhone.” There are four things that really matter: Foldables, AI, pricing, and whether Apple can restart a new upgrade cycle. 1. A foldable iPhone could be the biggest variable The market currently expects Apple to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro lineup and potentially its first foldable iPhone. If that happens, the significance is not simply that Apple is finally entering the foldable market. The bigger question is: Can Apple turn an existing form factor into a new
Apple Event Countdown: What Is the Market Really Watching in the New CEO’s First Test?
TOP苏36: I'd pick③ Will the new iPhone get more expensive? For investors, pricing may be one of the most important signals from Apple's event. Apple is facing higher costs for memory, advanced chips and components needed for on-device AI. That creates a difficult choice: raise prices to protect margins, or absorb higher costs and accept pressure on profitability. The key question is whether Apple can convince consumers that the upgrade is worth paying more for. If AI features, hardware improvements and premium models are compelling enough, Apple could raise its average selling price without significantly hurting demand. That would support both revenue and margins. But if prices rise while the improvements feel incremental, consumers may delay upgrading. A price increase without a major demand slowdown could be a strong signal that Apple is entering its next growth cycle. @Tiger_comments [思考]

With BTC above $80,000 and the company's holdings back in profit, the immediate tailwind is positive — but the stock trades at a 60% discount to its 52-week high, reflecting the market's skepticism about the sustainability of the leverage-and-acquire model.
