The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite soared over 40% through mid-December compared to a 23% rise in the broader S&P 500. Many growth stocks outpaced those gains, of course, and others were left completely out of the rally.Below, I'll highlight one promising stock from each of these categories for investors to consider owning in 2024 and beyond. Read on for some good reasons to like Coca-Cola and Shopify stocks right now.Coca-Cola is sparklingYou might be surprised to learn that Coca-Cola is posting excellent operating results these days. Its shares have fallen 8% year to date, after all, putting the beverage giant among the worst-performing members of the Dow Jones Industrial Average. There's no good reason for that slump. In late October, Coke announced that organic sales were up a blazing 11% in the Q3 period thanks to solid demand across its global portfolio. Sure, consumers are less enthusiastic about some traditional soda brands. But Coke has a firm footing in high-growth beverage areas like sparkling waters and energy drinks as well. And its financial efficiency is excellent, with profit margin of roughly double PepsiCo's figure. Its management team recently raised its 2023 outlook following the solid third-quarter sales and earnings boost.Coke's stock is valued at a discount compared to what investors were paying just a year ago. Its price-to-sales and price-to-earnings ratios have each declined since early 2023. Add in a dividend that's yielding 3.1%, and you've got all the ingredients you need for solid long-term returns from here.Shopify is worth itShopify sits on the other side of the stock performance spectrum, but investors shouldn't let its high valuation keep them away from this attractive business. That's because the e-commerce platform provider is checking all the right growth boxes today. Sales were up 25% last quarter and profits expanded at an even faster rate. The aggressive cost cuts that management started making about a year ago are paying off in spades today. Shopify generated $122 million of operating profit this past quarter, or 7% of sales, compared to a loss of $346 million, or 25%, a year ago. Investors can reasonably expect this profit margin figure to keep climbing, too, given the strong growth the company is seeing in cash flow today.SHOP Free Cash Flow data by YChartsShopify has a long growth runway ahead as it deepens its relationship with existing merchants and brings new users into the platform. Recent partnerships with companies like Amazon are extending its reach to many more buyers and sellers. And Shopify's services are also becoming more valuable thanks to artificial intelligence technology. It's true that you'll have to pay up for exposure to these positive trends. Shopify shares are trading at 15 times annual sales, up from around 8 times revenue back in early 2023.This higher price raises the risk around buying Shopify today, to be sure. But growth stock investors should still consider owning this business for the long term. Shopify has a good shot at expanding on its significant market share over time. And shareholder returns should be amplified by rising profit margins in 2024 and beyond.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"SHOP":0.9,"KO":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":6060,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9941685967,"gmtCreate":1680191658460,"gmtModify":1680191661492,"author":{"id":"3575616038841569","authorId":"3575616038841569","name":"notlhw","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/eab27b706f5ecdd467cfa9022d07be00","crmLevel":13,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3575616038841569","authorIdStr":"3575616038841569"},"themes":[],"title":"","htmlText":"Interest After rallying sharply last year, it has sold off hard in recent weeks. It officially entered correction territory this week, defined as a 10% decline from the recent high. While stock market corrections can be tough to stomach, they often present great opportunities to buy high-quality stocks at lower prices. With that in mind, we asked some of our contributors for their top stocks to buy amid this year's market dip. Here's why they believe Nucor (NYSE:NUE), NextEra Energy (NYSE:NEE), and Nio (NYSE:NIO) look like great buys during the current sell-off.Image source: Getty Images.A big sell-off would be a welcome opportunityReuben Gregg Brewer (Nucor): Steelmakers are highly cyclical, and right now, the companies are experiencing a strong operating environment. There are hints that this could change, but for now, record and near-record results are the norm for U.S. steel giant Nucor. It is, probably, the best-run mill in North America. There are so many positive things to say about Nucor that it's hard to know where to start. It is the largest and most diversified player. It has a No. 1 or No. 2 position in 12 different industry sectors. Its investment-grade-rated balance sheet is one of the strongest in the domestic market. It has a long history of investing for the future, particularly by using downturns when weaker peers are often just trying to survive. That said, the one thing that always impresses me most is the way it treats its employees and shareholders.NUE data by YChartsNucor has a profit-sharing arrangement that rewards its workforce well when the company is doing well. But, when times are tough, employees make less. The good times are so generous that it's a great deal, and at the same time, it gives Nucor a break on salary expenses when it needs the help. For investors, Nucor is a Dividend Aristocrat, having increased its dividend for 48 consecutive years. The stock is pretty expensive today, but a big dip related to broader market issues would be an opportunity to pick up a great company -- particularly if the yield rose to something in the 3% range. This industry leader is much cheaperMatt DiLallo (NextEra Energy): Shares of NextEra Energy have taken a beating this year. The utility stock has tumbled more than 20% in the first few weeks of 2022. That's a stunning drop for such a high-quality company with a history of delivering strong performance. It has now given up most of last year's gains when it generated a 23% total return, outperforming the utility sector. That's something it has done in each of the previous three-, five-, 10-, and 15-year periods. While the overall market correction sparked the sell-off, the company's recent management transition also seemed to spook investors. Investors seemed overly concerned that longtime CEO Jim Robo plans to step down in March. They're overlooking the fact that he's handing over the reins to a 19-year company veteran who has worked alongside the value-creating CEO for decades.Investors also completely overlooked NextEra's strong fourth-quarter results and increased financial guidance. It grew its adjusted earnings per share by 10.4% last year, above its 6% to 8% long-term target range. Meanwhile, it sees double-digit earnings growth again in 2022. It also expects to deliver 6% to 8% earnings growth in 2023 from this year's higher base while extending its outlook through 2025. The company's focus on investing in renewable energy is helping drive faster growth. This year's sell-off now has NextEra energy trading at about 26 times its forward earnings. While that's a bit more expensive than the average utility, it's significantly cheaper than the more than 35 times forward earnings multiple it fetched before the sell-off. That cheaper price, combined with NextEra Energy's improved outlook, makes it look like a great buy amid this year's stock-market correction.A top bet to play the EV megatrendNeha Chamaria (Nio): Given the rapid pace at which sales of electric vehicles (EV) are rising, I wouldn't shy away from putting my money on an EV stock during a market sell-off. Right now, for example, I have my eyes on Nio -- shares of the China-based EV maker have shed almost 30% in just the past one month, as of this writing.Specifically, there are three reasons why I like Nio. First, Nio is a bet on the world's largest EV market, China, where demand for new-energy vehicles is rising at a torrid pace. Nio is also making an effort to establish a footprint outside China, which is my second reason to be bullish on the stock. By 2025, for example, Nio plans to expand its presence to 25 countries and regions by 2025, with immediate plans including entry into more European markets after having already launched its vehicles in Norway last year.Last but most important, Nio is gearing up to start deliveries of two models this year -- its flagship sedan ET7 and the much-awaited midsize sedan ET5. There's much more going at Nio, including a potential secondary listing in the Hong Kong stock exchange (or perhaps even Singapore, as rumors are floating right now). EVs are changing the dynamics of the auto industry, so it makes sense for an investor to own some EV stocks. Nio is just one such compelling EV stock that looks primed to rally once the market's fears die down.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"NUE":1,"NIO":1,"NEE":1}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":5405,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9005756318,"gmtCreate":1642424448089,"gmtModify":1676533709508,"author":{"id":"3575616038841569","authorId":"3575616038841569","name":"notlhw","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/eab27b706f5ecdd467cfa9022d07be00","crmLevel":13,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3575616038841569","authorIdStr":"3575616038841569"},"themes":[],"title":"","htmlText":"Like","listText":"Like","text":"Like","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9005756318","repostId":"1190045611","repostType":2,"repost":{"id":"1190045611","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1642422520,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1190045611?lang=en_US&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-01-17 20:28","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Is the U.S. stock market open on Monday?
