Why I Keep Dollar-Averaging into QYLD: Rising Dividends and Steady Income
QYLD’s Increasing Dividends – A Strong Incentive
One of the main reasons I continue dollar-cost averaging into the Global X Nasdaq 100 Covered Call ETF (QYLD) is the noticeable increase in dividend payouts over the past year. In December 2023, QYLD paid a dividend of $0.1659 per share, while the most recent December 2024 payout has surged to $0.33863 per share—more than double in just a year! This consistent growth in dividends makes QYLD an attractive income-generating investment, especially in a volatile market.
Dollar-Cost Averaging for Consistent Returns
Rather than trying to time the market, I dollar-cost average (DCA) into QYLD. By purchasing shares regularly, I lower my average cost per share and maximize my exposure to higher dividend payouts. Since QYLD follows a covered call strategy, its monthly dividend yield remains strong, providing reliable cash flow regardless of market conditions.
Hedging Against Market Volatility
QYLD sells covered calls on the Nasdaq-100 Index (NDX), which means it profits from market volatility rather than just price appreciation. This strategy helps cushion against downturns, making it a safer choice in uncertain economic times. With the Nasdaq experiencing fluctuations, QYLD allows me to generate passive income while still maintaining exposure to tech-heavy stocks.
Reinvesting Dividends for Compounding Growth
Another advantage of QYLD is that I can reinvest my dividends to buy more shares, compounding my returns over time. Given the rising dividend trend, reinvesting now means I’ll be receiving even larger payouts in the future, accelerating wealth accumulation.
Conclusion
QYLD remains a core part of my portfolio due to its increasing dividends, passive income potential, and volatility hedge. By continuously dollar-cost averaging, I am securing a higher yield over time, benefiting from its rising payouts and stable income generation.
