✨Tuesday — Singapore Stocks

Singapore's benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) opened 0.2% higher on Tuesday, with notable gains in ST Engineering (+2%), Yangzijiang Shipbuilding (+0.9%), and banking stocks OCBC (+0.6%) and UOB (+0.5%). However, aviation and financial sectors saw mixed performance as Singapore Airlines declined 0.4% and DBS slipped 0.2%. In corporate developments, Olam Group secured a $100 million financing facility for its agri-business unit ahead of a major stake sale to a Saudi investor, while Top Glove announced a leadership transition to the founder's son as joint managing director. Precision engineering firm UMS Integration completed its acquisition of Starke Singapore, boosting its vertical integration capabilities.

Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong warned that Singapore may revise its GDP and inflation forecasts due to escalating Middle East tensions, which threaten to drive up global oil prices and increase business costs. The government is closely monitoring the Iran crisis and stands ready to adjust economic projections if energy market disruptions become prolonged. This cautious stance underscores the city-state's vulnerability to external supply shocks despite its strong fiscal position.

A decisive break above $70,000 is needed to confirm a continuation of the bullish trend, otherwise, further consolidation within the current range is likely, with potential dips towards $64k

I think it is worth looking at defense ETF, because there will be a need to replenish weapons used in the war. Middle Eastern allies of USA will likely want to beef up after suffering some hits. There will be demand and therefore investors can derive value.
    So $SPDR S&P Aerospace & Defense ETF(XAR)$ , $Invesco Aerospace & Defense ETF(PPA)$ , $Direxion Daily Aerospace & Defense Bull 3X Shares(DFEN)$

🌟🌟🌟Even though Bitcoin jumped 5% to test the USD 70,000 zone, the rally remains fragile.  If oil jumps above the USD 100 mark, the resulting inflationary spike could force the US Federal Reserve to keep interest rates high, eventually pressuring all risk assets.

It remains to be seen whether Bitcoin as Digital Gold narrative can withstand the current volatility in the markets.

But here is the thing about Bitcoin:  It always looks the weakest right before it shows its true mettle.

As of March 3, 2026, Bitcoin (BTC) is trading near $66,800 to $68,400, having recently retested the $70,000 psychological resistance level. While the market shows short-term resilience amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, particularly involving the Strait of Hormuz, BTC faces a "supply wall" at $70k that has led to immediate intraday rejections.

Analysts are divided on whether this move is a "bear market trap" or the start of a sustained recovery.

No doubt war triggers fear but good chance to trade on price swings or wait to buy on dips.
