$SanDisk Corp.(SNDK)$ SK Hynix announced they're building more memory chip fabrication capacity that won't be online until 2030, and Samsung's mega-fab won't be ready until 2028. Similarly, Micron's fab won't be online until 2028. That's assuming no delays. That's good news. It shows how long it takes to add significant capacity. This means even if the commodity-style cycle for memory chips continues, we likely won't see genuine pricing pressure for at least another two years. Of course, this assumes there's no major algorithmic breakthrough in AI architectures that would reduce memory requirements.
