Tesla cleared to operate Robotaxi in Arizona and fully open service in Austin and Bay Area

Tesla has been approved to provide self-driving ride-hailing services in Arizona, and plans to operate robotaxis in the Phoenix area to promote the expansion of its self-driving business. On November 19, 2025, Tesla officially opened its Robotaxi driverless taxi service to the public in Austin and San Francisco Bay Area. Users need to use an iPhone. The Bay Area is still equipped with safety supervisors, but some passengers reported that the safety officer dozed off many times while driving. Tesla plans to cancel the Austin safety officer configuration before the end of the year. The incident exposed the potential safety hazards of driverless operations.
