Free cash flow would convince me most. AI revenue and cloud growth can look impressive, but durable value ultimately requires those investments to generate more cash than the capital needed to sustain them. I would watch whether free cash flow improves even as depreciation and infrastructure costs catch up with the current capex boom. If revenue continues growing strongly while capex growth slows and FCF margins expand, that would be much stronger evidence that AI infrastructure is producing genuine economic returns rather than simply adding capacity. For me, the key transition is: AI demand → revenue growth → operating leverage → sustainable free cash flow.

Search advertising growth was slower than expected, while its free cash flow turned negative at approximately US$9.1 billion. Tiger Hotspots | Alphabet Falls Over 12%: Is It Time to Buy the Tech Dip?

Alphabet fell more than 12% in one day, and several technology heavyweights are 20%-30% below their 2026 closing highs. That has brought the familiar buying-the-dip question back into focus. Tiger's view: It is reasonable to start screening profitable companies after these pullbacks, but there is not enough evidence to declare a bottom across technology stocks. Prices, earnings and cash flow need to be assessed together—and historical recoveries show why the time horizon matters. 01 | Stock-level selloffs and index drawdowns differ On October 29, the Nasdaq Composite closed at 26,184.72, down 1.38%. The Nasdaq-100 fell 1.38%, while the S&P 500 lost 0.30%. GOOGL dropped 12.64%, Amazon fell 4.25%, Microsoft slipped just 0.16%, and Meta rose 1.96%. The performance was sharply divided. [1]

Alphabet Lost $500B. I Think Wall Street May Be Measuring the Wrong Cash Burn.

Alphabet just suffered its worst one-day percentage decline ever. Roughly 12.6% gone. About $500B of market value erased. And the contradiction inside the earnings report was extraordinary. Google Cloud revenue: +103% to $30.7B. Cloud backlog: $561B Yet Alphabet's free cash flow: NEGATIVE $9.1B. How can a company double its fastest-growing major business and simultaneously start burning cash? The obvious answer is: Alphabet is spending too much on AI. That is partly true. But I think it misses something much more interesting. Google is quietly changing what kind of company it is. And one clue buried inside the quarter explains why its cash-flow profile may never look exactly like old Google again. That clue is: TPU SYSTEMS. 🔵 OLD GOOGLE HAD A BEAUTIFUL BUSINESS MODEL For years, Alphabet's

Cloud Doubles, Cash Flow Turns Negative: Is Alphabet Spending Too Much on the AI Race?

$Alphabet(GOOG)$  latest quarterly results highlight one of the biggest questions facing the technology sector: how much should investors tolerate today in exchange for potential AI growth tomorrow? For months, Big Tech companies have been competing to build larger data centres, secure advanced chips and expand their AI capabilities. The market initially rewarded this spending as evidence that these companies were positioning themselves for long-term growth. However, investors are becoming more selective. Strong revenue growth is no longer enough. They want to see whether AI investment can eventually translate into sustainable profits and free cash flow. Alphabet’s latest results demonstrate why this debate is becoming more important. Sh

Cloud Doubles, Cash Flow Turns Negative — What Broke at Alphabet?

Alphabet’s latest earnings report presents one of the biggest contradictions in the current AI investment cycle. Google Cloud revenue more than doubled, operating income increased substantially, and demand for AI infrastructure appears exceptionally strong. Yet investors sent the stock down 12.64% on Thursday. Why did such impressive cloud growth trigger such a negative market reaction? The answer lies in the difference between growing a business and generating cash from that growth. Alphabet is investing enormous amounts of money to strengthen its position in AI. It is building data centres, purchasing advanced chips, expanding computing capacity and developing AI products. These investments may create significant long-term opportunities, but the financial cost is becoming increasingly di
