When weekends is much of crowds go in to Malaysia there shouldn't be a goods idea to join the party since you don't really enjoy the foods and shopping which share with much of the people you need much patience to wait  for it

Support local pls. As a Singaporean,  we can occasionally visit JB to enjoy the foods and shopping. But do support our local pls. I stayed so near to JB but I hardly really visit JB every month. Take example HK, since China made it so easy to travel from HK to Shen Zheng, the local  retail and restaurants suffered very badly.

Yes sometimes I'll go Malaysia during the weekend as for a short trip for food and a relax massage. Inflation in Singapore is high. Spending Malaysia Ringgit is much more affordable. Especially is near Chinese New Year. Shipping for CNY goodies and grocery is a bonus. 😉

If you want to spend for hair, colour, perm, treatment, etc yes definitely cheaper for manicure quality not as good as in Singapore. However the total money spent is not lower because go to JB start yr morning with dimsum, then lunch at restaurant there, like arashi hotpot or roasted duck at KSL, shopping at the malls there, coffee time at oriental coffee, a night at Airbnb, supper nearby airbnb nasi bryani, lok lok, breakfast near Airbnb, lunch then proceed to go home in Singapore. JB, Melaka, KL is a weekend trip 😁 everyweek is not recommended unless can go during the weekdays.

I visit Malaysia on weekends but not every weekend. I go there once every few months for good and cheap food, services such as massage, pedicure, manicure, hair cut and colour. Services are generally about half price of Singapore which makes it worthwhile to travel over. Clothes are also cheaper at Malaysia than Singapore. Clothes in value in Malaysia is the same as Singapore but in RM! Due to the exchange rate, price is about a third of Singapore. There is also outlet at Malaysia which makes buying branded goods easy.  I do know many Singaporeans go over for grocery shopping and to pump petrol. I don't do both as I find it risky to drive in and grocery shopping is too heavy to try to carry it over the causeway using public transport[Facepalm]  

On weekends I don't visit JB because of the traffic snarl. It is a waste of my life since time is part of our life which whatever money saved cannot retrieve back the moment lost in huge traffic jam.  I visit during weekdays once a month to eat my favourite dishes with different taste and flavour and to do massage which is definitely less costly than in Singapore.  I dislike driving in, fear of the jam and fear of window smashing and accident which is hard to resolve n claims difficulty. End results could be troublesome if it happens.  Hence I don't do groceries and don't pump petrol.  Clothings purchase are not extremely cheaper though, so are food in restaurants unless you eat coffee shops or stalls. Dim Sum however could be cheaper if you venture beyond KSL.  So
