State Department to Buy Tesla Cybertrucks, Musk-Trump Relationship in Focus

The State Department has released its 2025 procurement forecast, which includes $500 million for "Armored Electric Vehicles." Previous versions referred to them as armored Cybertrucks. This purchase raises concerns about a potential conflict of interest, as Tesla CEO Elon Musk is running President Donald Trump's Department of Government Efficiency and supported Trump's presidential campaign. Musk has previously stated that Tesla does not receive direct support from the federal government and that purchase tax credits and zero-emission vehicle credits are available to all automakers. The State Department's decision to buy Cybertrucks may impact Tesla's shares.
