Meme Trump Coin is a Paradigm Shift!

$Trump Media & Technology(DJT)$ $Coinbase Global, Inc.(COIN)$

On January 17th, history was made when Donald Trump, the newly elected President of the United States, became the first world leader to launch a meme coin. He introduced TrumpCoin, a token built on the Solana blockchain, aimed at attracting both crypto investors and his political supporters. The launch, which occurred just three days before his inauguration, sparked an immediate media frenzy—fueled even further by Trump's post on his X account, where he promoted the coin to his 100 million followers.

The result? TrumpCoin skyrocketed from $3 to $74 in just two days, delivering an astonishing 2,000% return and significantly increasing Trump's wealth. However, just two days later, on January 19th, First Lady Melania Trump introduced her own meme token, MelaniaCoin—and with that, the TrumpCoin

rally peaked.

Some analysts, including those from major asset manager Bernstein, view TrumpCoin as a potential paradigm shift in U.S. crypto, with price estimates reaching as high as $800 (a 2,700% increase). Others, however, believe the entire phenomenon is nothing more than a speculative bubble.

Can Trump and Melania Coins Recover?

To determine whether these tokens can rebound from their recent crash, we must examine how past meme coins have performed. Meme coins are notoriously volatile, often experiencing meteoric rises followed by dramatic crashes. While many never recover, some—like Pepe—have staged impressive comebacks.

Take Pepe, for example. Launched in April 2023 on the Ethereum blockchain and inspired by the Pepe the Frog meme, its market cap started below $100,000 but skyrocketed to $1.6 billion in just 21 days. However, it later crashed by 80%, leading many to believe the hype was over. Surprisingly, in early 2024, Pepe surged again, reaching an $11 billion market cap by December—an additional 700% increase from its previous peak.

Another example is Bonk, a meme coin built on Solana, the same blockchain hosting Trump and Melania coins. After launching in December 2020, Bonk surged 2,300% in just five days, then entered a 10-month decline, losing 95% of its value. Many dismissed it as another failed meme coin, but against all odds, it rebounded and exceeded its previous highs by 1,500% in the following year.

Do All Meme Coins Bounce Back?

Unfortunately, most meme coins fail after their initial surge. Research from ChainPlay suggests that 97% of meme coins never recover from their crashes.

Take JennerCoin, launched by Caitlyn Jenner. It soared by 18,000% in just 15 days, only to plummet by 99%, never regaining momentum. Similarly, DaddyCoin, created by Andrew Tate in June 2024, jumped 2,100% in three days but has since dropped more than 80%, despite multiple attempts to revive it.

This raises a crucial question: Will Trump and Melania coins follow in the footsteps of Pepe and Bonk, or will they fade away like Jenner and Daddy?

The Key to Meme Coin Success: Community vs. Celebrity

What separates successful meme coins from those that fail? The answer lies in community-driven momentum versus celebrity dependency.

Both Pepe and Bonk thrived because they built strong, engaged communities. Pepe capitalized on an internet culture phenomenon, while Bonk gained traction as Solana’s first major dog-themed coin, fostering a loyal following. Their success wasn’t reliant on any single person—it was a collective movement.

In contrast, JennerCoin and DaddyCoin relied almost entirely on the celebrity status of their founders. While Caitlyn Jenner and Andrew Tate generated initial hype, their tokens lacked organic community growth, leading to inevitable collapses.

Where Do Trump and Melania Coins Stand?

At first glance, Trump and Melania coins might seem like typical celebrity-backed tokens. However, Trump is not just any celebrity—his influence over crypto policy and media attention sets him apart.

  • Trump has nearly 100 million followers on X, 10x more than Andrew Tate and 30x more than Caitlyn Jenner.

  • TrumpCoin already has 71,000 holders, while MelaniaCoin has 303,000—far exceeding JennerCoin (1,400 holders in 8 months) and DaddyCoin (71,000 holders).

Why does this matter? A larger holder base indicates widespread trust, adoption, and potential for long-term growth. If these coins continue to build strong communities, they could follow the path of Pepe and Bonk rather than fading into obscurity.

Could TrumpCoin Be Used for More Than Just Speculation?

Beyond speculation, meme coins can gain real-world utility, which can fuel sustained growth.

  • Melania Trump has hinted at using MelaniaCoin for philanthropic efforts, potentially driving exposure.

  • Some reports suggest the Trump team could leverage TrumpCoin as:Collateral for crypto banking/finance initiativesA political engagement tool to reward supportersA treasury asset to fund future Trump-related projects

This potential utility could set TrumpCoin apart from past celebrity-driven meme coins.

The Bitcoin Factor: Why It Matters for Meme Coins

Like most meme coins, TrumpCoin’s price is closely tied to Bitcoin.

  • The correlation coefficient between TrumpCoin and Bitcoin has remained between 0.5 and 1, meaning they move in the same direction.

  • Historically, meme coins thrive in bull markets and crash in bear markets—so if Bitcoin continues its bull run, TrumpCoin and MelaniaCoin could benefit.

Price Predictions: Where Could TrumpCoin Go?

Forecasts for TrumpCoin’s future price vary widely:

  • CoinCodex predicts an average of $133.19 in 2025, with a potential high of $234.66 in February (+750% gain).

  • CoinPedia projects a more conservative estimate of $67 in 2025, with a range between $35 and $100.

  • Long-term projections from CoinEdition suggest a $550 average by 2040, with a high of $800.

Final Thoughts: Boom or Bust?

While the possibility of triple or even quadruple-digit TrumpCoin prices exists, meme coins remain highly speculative.

History shows that some meme coins make legendary comebacks, while others disappear entirely. The deciding factors will be community engagement, real-world use cases, and Bitcoin’s performance in the broader crypto market.
