$SPX 5515 is todayβs key inflection point. It acts as the charm equilibrium, defining the threshold between passive bid support and rising volatility pressure.
A hold above 5515, particularly reclaiming 5518, keeps charm mechanics net supportive into the close. That opens potential for reversion toward 5526.75 and possibly 5532.50, assuming continued dealer hedging and call chasing.
π₯ Options arenβt sitting still. SPX calls just ramped to $41.60, kaboom. That price action reflects active hedging behaviour and implies that institutional desks are not dismissing upside risk.
But context is everything. $VIX has surged above 25, up over 5 percent, peaking intraday at 28.17. That is a known stress marker from April. This confirms we are in a volatility regime shift.
And hereβs the anchor βοΈ. Thereβs a major volume shelf building on the 30-minute chart right at 5510 to 5520. Thatβs institutional memory. If bulls defend this level, they are defending value.
π The 5505 to 5500 zone remains your LIS (line in sand) for 3 to 4 PM EST. A close below would activate gamma drag and potentially force dealers into negative delta territory.
RSI confirms a pressure build. SPX is at 34.24 on RSI6, VIX at 63.03. Both point to tightening coils with binary outcome potential.
Volatility is no longer suppressed. This isnβt chop, itβs a setup.
