The recent massive pullback in semiconductor and AI-related stocks has definitely shaken market confidence. Even strong companies are facing selling pressure as investors reassess AI valuations, capital expenditure, and the sustainability of future growth. However, after watching SOXL closely for some time, I have started to slowly bottom-fish again. My decision is not based on the belief that the market has already reached its lowest point, but rather that the recent correction may gradually create opportunities for investors who are willing to be patient.
One reason I am considering adding to SOXL is my longer-term bullish view on the semiconductor industry. AI infrastructure demand, data centre expansion, high-performance computing, and memory chips remain important growth drivers. Although sentiment can turn bearish quickly, I do not think the long-term semiconductor growth story has disappeared simply because of a sharp market correction. If the current weakness is mainly driven by valuation adjustments and short-term uncertainty, rather than a complete deterioration in fundamentals, the pullback could offer a more attractive entry point.
That said, I am not rushing to deploy all my capital at once. SOXL is a 3x leveraged ETF, which means volatility can significantly magnify both gains and losses. I have learned that catching a falling knife can be costly, especially when semiconductor stocks are still searching for a stable bottom. My approach is to scale in gradually, monitor important technical support levels, and look for signs of stabilisation before committing more capital. If the downtrend continues, I want to preserve enough cash to manage the position rather than being trapped by an oversized entry.
For me, bottom-fishing SOXL is about balancing conviction with discipline. I believe the semiconductor sector still has long-term potential, but I also respect the risks of leverage and market timing. I do not need to buy at the absolute lowest price to make a reasonable return. Instead, I want to build my position carefully when the risk-reward ratio becomes more attractive. The market may continue to swing, but my strategy remains the same: stay patient, manage risk, and let the opportunity come to me rather than chasing every rebound.
