You're Not Trading. You're Underwriting. | Tiger Seminar

Most people meet options by buying one. It expires worthless, and that is the end of the story. Somebody was on the other side of that contract. That side is not a trade in the usual sense — it is closer to writing a policy. You accept an obligation, you get paid up front, and then you carry it. On Wednesday 26 August I am speaking at Tiger Brokers' Singapore office about what that actually involves. What I will cover: - The wheel, worked end to end with round numbers: cash-secured puts through to covered calls, and what actually happens when you get assigned - Diagonal call spreads as a lower-capital alternative — and why lower capital means leverage, not a free lunch - Where the carry genuinely comes from, and why time decay is only part of the answer - The honest shape of a premium-sell

Futures Weekly:Institutions Pile into Energy&Metals as Tight Oil Inventories Risk Premiums

Over the past week, the core narrative shaping global asset pricing revolved around two themes. On the geopolitical front, negotiations between the United States and Iran over the Strait of Hormuz reached an impasse, with both sides engaging in heated exchanges and refusing to yield. According to Bloomberg tanker-tracking data, Middle Eastern crude oil loadings fell from 20 million barrels per day in early July to 12 million barrels per day by the end of July, with the supply disruption shifting from a “risk premium” into a “physical supply shortfall.” On the macroeconomic front, U.S. headline CPI rose 3.4% year over year in July, while core CPI increased 2.5%; month-over-month growth resumed. PPI rose 4.7% year over year, while nonfarm payroll employment unexpectedly declined by 23,000 in

Portfolio Seminar Recap:Building and Reviewing Your Investment Portfolio

Welcome to the sharing session on the evening of August 19th, and participate in the prize-winning Q&A at @TigerClub James' Portfolio Seminar Recap: Building and Reviewing Your Investment Portfolio James started by sharing how portfolio management can look quite different for retail investors and professional fund managers. While retail investors may not have the same access to information and research tools as institutional managers, they also possess distinct advantages of their own. Unlike fund managers, retail investors are not bound by short-term performance targets or reporting cycles, giving them greater freedom to stay focused on long-term objectives. Th

James Ooi's Portfolio Seminar Recap: Building and Reviewing Your Investment Portfolio

[Wow]Offline meeting venue rendering on August 19th Dear Tigers, Were you at Raffles Palace this past Wednesday evening for the Portfolio Management seminar led by Tiger Brokers Singapore's Chief Market Strategist @Tiger_James Ooi ? Whether you made it or not, it's worth reflecting on a key question: how do retail investors and professional fund managers differ in their investment styles, analytical angles, and research rigor? More importantly, what steps can you take to become a more systematic, strategy-driven investor? We've distilled the evening's insights into a concise recap below. Regardless of whether you were in the room, reviewing your own portfolio framework is always time well spent. Read on, and be sure to
James Ooi's Portfolio Seminar Recap: Building and Reviewing Your Investment Portfolio
TOP苏36: The most valuable takeaway for me is that retail investors have structural advantages that are often overlooked. Unlike professional fund managers, we are not tied to short-term performance targets, redemption pressure or strict investment mandates. This gives us the freedom to build a portfolio around our own goals, risk tolerance and time horizon. I also found the discussion about cash, turnover and momentum particularly useful. Holding cash provides flexibility during volatility, but excessive cash can create a significant opportunity cost. At the same time, blindly "buying the dip" is not always the best strategy, especially when negative momentum continues. Ultimately, good investing is not just about picking great companies. It requires disciplined portfolio management, emotional control, regular reviews and the willingness to adapt when market conditions change. For me, the real edge is having a clear plan and sticking to it. @TigerClub [贱笑]

[Event] What Was the Hottest Stock When You Started Investing? 👀
TOPkoolgal: 🌟Dear Tiger Friends, Can you guess the year I started investing when the hottest, most culturally explosive stock was $GameStop(GME)$ ? This video game meme stock kingpin delivered a mind boggling, retail driven total return of over 815%! It was a year when Main Street pit their strength against Wall Street. It was a time when online retail forums, led by the legendary "Roaring Kitty" aka Keith Gill banded together to trigger a historic, multi billion dollar short squeeze that completely broke traditional Wall Street risk models and sent institutional short sellers into a total liquidation panic. For a brief intoxicating moment, the online forums & retail "Ordinary Joes" felt completely untouchable. But the reality of corporate fundamentals reasserted itself. GameStop dropped like a rock to the bottom of the ocean. The lesson I learnt was single stock hype is unsustainable. To build wealth, automated diversification is the key to success. @TigerEvents @Tiger_comments

Why Deere Is Becoming an Unexpected Data-Centre Construction Play

$Deere(DE)$’s fiscal third quarter produced its first year-over-year profit increase in three years even though the large-farm-equipment downturn continued. The surprise came from construction and forestry, where spending on infrastructure and artificial-intelligence data centres helped offset weak demand for high-horsepower tractors and combines. Deere reported on August 20 for the quarter ended July 26. Worldwide net sales and revenue increased 5% to $12.61 billion, while net income rose 7% to $1.379 billion, or $5.10 per share. Construction and Forestry sales increased 18% and operating profit rose approximately 84% to $436 million. By contrast, Production and Precision Agriculture sales declined 6%. Why Coinbase’s Rally Depends on Crypto Rules Becoming Durable Law

$Coinbase Global, Inc.(COIN)$ rose sharply on August 20 as Bitcoin crossed $70,000 and Washington advanced a more accommodating regulatory framework. The rally reflects genuine strategic upside: clearer rules can encourage token issuance, institutional participation and trading in the United States. It also depends heavily on political and market variables outside Coinbase’s control. The immediate events occurred on two different dates. On August 18, the Securities and Exchange Commission proposed “Regulation Crypto Assets,” which would create tailored exemptions for certain crypto-related investment-contract offerings. One exemption would cover as much as $5 million over four years; another would allow up to $75 million in each 12-month period wi

TEM is Still Wildly Undervalued

$Tempus AI(TEM)$ is still wildly undervalued. Here's how I think the business should be valued over the next 12 months: DATA & APPLICATIONS -> Annualized revenue based on Q2 is currently ~$410M. Growth at a similar rate into FY27 would put us at $525M. -> This business has 73% gross margins so at 28% YoY growth and those margins it's putting up figures like a solid SaaS company. -> $525M * 10x sales = $5.3B -> $525M * 12x sales = $6.3B DIAGNOSTICS -> Generated $293.3M in Q2 alone which is $1.2B annualized. Growth at a similar rate gets us to $1.5B in FY27. -> And plus, $Tempus AI(TEM)$ recently received FDA approval on xT CDx test which brings tumor DNA

US market 'maybe' crash & investor Plan B ?

. Of late, the US stock market is showing valuation patterns that have historically preceded major downturns. Just to be clear, it does not mean that a crash is imminent or certain. Warnings. Looking across key economic indicators and corporate valuation metrics, the US equity market exhibits several clear, historical warning signs of structural vulnerability: (1) Metrics valuations. a) The Shiller CAPE Ratio: Measuring price versus 10-year inflation-adjusted earnings, this ratio has consistently stayed above 40 since May 2026. Outside of recent trading, the late-1990s dot-com bubble was the only other period in US history where this metric remained above 40 for an extended time. b) The Buffett Indicator: Total US stock-market value divided by US GDP, currently stands at a record roughly 2
