S&P 500 at Record Highs: Bad News, CPI Nuances, and the Path to 8,000

The U.S. stock market's surge following a surprisingly weak labor report highlights the counterintuitive mechanism of modern macro trading. When the $S&P 500(.SPX)$ S&P 500 reached a record high of 7,757.64 on August 7, 2026, it demonstrated that in an environment where interest rates and Federal Reserve policy dominate equity valuations, a cooling labor market can act as a catalyst for stock prices. 1. The Mechanics: Why "Bad News" Became "Good News" for Wall Street The term "bad news is good news" describes a market regime where weak macroeconomic data is interpreted positively by investors because it alters the trajectory of monetary policy. Light (Optics) vs Memory - Which side to bet on?  While memory is important, Light wins the valuation crown over storage.  This is because of a brutal law of physics: The Electronic Bottleneck. Let's look at why Wall Street treats memory like a premium commodity but treats light like magic: Memory chips store data but they have to send that data to the GPU using copper wires & electrons.  If the data takes too long to get from the memory bank to the GPU, that USD 40,000 chip sits idle. $Lumentum(LITE)$ & $COHERENT(COHR)$ use photons.  Silicon photonics convert digital data into beams of lig

TON OF THINGS HAPPENED

A TON OF THINGS HAPPENED IN THE STOCK MARKET TODAY. Here's a full recap: 1. Nvidia $NVDA announced partnerships with Apollo, BlackRock, Blackstone, Brookfield, Goldman Sachs, and KKR to create independent AI compute financing platforms designed to mobilize more than $500 billion of third-party capital over time. The goal is to turn Nvidia compute and full-stack AI infrastructure into an investable asset class, helping fund the global buildout of AI factories while giving Nvidia customers access to large pools of capital at attractive rates. Jensen: “In AI, compute is revenue. NVIDIA compute is uniquely suited for this role. It is broadly adopted, flexible across models and workloads, fungible and transferable across customers and operators, and continuously improved through CUDA software.

TOPEltonRichard: Maia matters for cost control, but CUDA lock-in still looks stronger. External demand is the real test for Microsoft, not internal deployment

Why AbCellera’s 35% Rally Still Leaves Its Menopause Drug Facing the Hardest Test

$AbCellera Biologics(ABCL)$’s experimental menopause treatment delivered encouraging mid-stage results, providing the strongest validation yet for the company’s internally developed drug pipeline. The market added roughly one-third to AbCellera’s value in a single session, but a successful Phase 2 study is evidence for further development—not proof of regulatory approval or commercial success. AbCellera announced on August 10 that ABCL635 met the main and secondary objectives in a randomised Phase 2 trial involving 286 participants with moderate-to-severe vasomotor symptoms. A single dose produced an 83% reduction from baseline in weekly symptom frequency at week 12, compared with 54% for placebo, while the company reported a favourable tolerabili

I’m leaning D — Holding Steady. The STI’s ~23% YTD rally is impressive, but I don’t think the story is over. Singapore’s banks continue delivering strong earnings and dividends, while SGX benefits from stronger capital-market activity. If earnings remain solid, the STI could still challenge 6,000. That said, I wouldn’t chase aggressively here. After such a strong run, consolidation around 5,400–5,700 would be healthy. I’d rather keep my core positions, reinvest dividends and add selectively on pullbacks. I’m more comfortable staying invested than trying to guess the exact top. The key risk is whether falling rates pressure bank NIMs enough to offset wealth management and fee-income growth. For me, this rally is increasingly about earnings, dividends and compounding. If banks keep executin

TOPMoiraHorace: Same here — holding SGX and drip mode makes more sense than top-ticking. Do you see fee growth cushioning NIM pressure enough?

🇸🇬 Happy Birthday Singapore: The STI Is Up 23% — How Much Higher Can It Go?

Drop your take on Singapore’s market rally below to earn Tiger Coins for top insights! 🐯🪙 At Singapore's National Day, the Straits Times Index sits near all-time highs. The question is no longer whether it has rallied — but whether banks, the exchange, rate expectations, and capital reallocation can push it to the next level. Core Thesis 🐯 The $Straits Times Index(STI.SI)$'s 22.6% rally is not just "National Day sentiment" — it is a structural repricing driven by Singapore's large-cap composition: resilient bank earnings, the exchange's scarce-asset premium, and defensive cash flows have pushed the index to the edge of record territory. As of the latest close, the STI stands at 5,698.43, up ~22.6% from the 2025 year-end level of
🇸🇬 Happy Birthday Singapore: The STI Is Up 23% — How Much Higher Can It Go?
TOP苏36: I am still cautiously bullish on Singapore equities. This rally looks more structural than just a National Day boost, with DBS, OCBC and UOB delivering strong earnings, while SGX benefits from rising market activity. The key point is that banks are no longer relying purely on net interest margins. Wealth management, fees and trading income are becoming increasingly important as rates come down. That said, after a 20% + rally, I wouldn't chase aggressively at current levels. The STI now needs earnings and dividends to catch up with the valuation. My view: 5,400 – 5,700 could be a consolidation zone. If bank earnings remain strong and capital continues to flow into Singapore, a break above 5,700 could open the door to 6,000. I'm choosing D — Holding Steady. I'd rather collect dividends and wait for pullbacks or sector rotation than chase the index at a record high. Singapore's story still looks solid — but from here, earnings matter more than momentum. @SGX_Stars [龇牙]

Why monday.com’s AI Traction Is Not Yet Offsetting Its Revenue Slowdown

$Monday.com Ltd.(MNDY)$’s second-quarter report showed that artificial-intelligence products are becoming a measurable source of new business. Yet the company’s growth is still slowing, and a cautious third-quarter forecast suggests that restructuring and AI monetisation will take time to offset weaker billings and a more difficult software-spending environment. monday.com reported before the August 10 market open for the quarter ended June 30. Revenue increased 22% year over year to $364.6 million, while non-GAAP operating income rose to a record $61.1 million from $45.1 million. GAAP operating loss narrowed to $1.5 million from $11.6 million. monday.com’s official second-quarter release provides the financial statements and customer metrics. The

🌟🌟🌟 $Lumentum(LITE)$ is the ultimate winner of AI's Light vs Storage battle.  While memory storage is critical, optical modules represent the true bottleneck of AI data centers because moving data at the speed of light is mandatory to prevent massive GPU idling. The optical sector has given investors much worry lately as they have experienced a sharp pre earnings cooling with Lumentum dropping 7% in a single day. Lumentum is expected to report a huge 105% year over year revenue explosion to around USD 988 million. The recent stock pullback isn't a sign that AI demand is slowing down.  If Lumentum beats expectations & raises its 2027 capacity execution guidance, it will trigger a short squeeze across the entire optics sector. Who is the King in the AI Area?

Hello everyone! Today i want to share some ai trading ideas with you! 1 $Micron Technology(MU)$ is on pace to generate over $500B in profit over the next three years: • 2026: $98B (+904% YoY) • 2027: $198B (+102% YoY) • 2028: $207B (+4% YoY) The best part is there’s a real chance future memory demand ends up being driven by applications the industry isn’t even planning capacity around today. 2 $AST SpaceMobile, Inc.(ASTS)$ may ultimately be much more than a satellite phone network because the same physical architecture is already generating government radar revenue and attracting sovereign constellation funding. But the valuation still ultimately depends on the core broadband

What's the Three Way of CPI Playbook

CPI Wednesday is going to make 90% of traders lose money before lunch. Here's the exact playbook so you're not one of them 👇$Cboe Volatility Index(VIX)$ 🧊 COOL PRINT (0.1% or below) Market gaps up ~+0.24% at the open. That strength gets sold, median −0.27% intraday fade. US market rally, Reports data show trouble !

For the week ending Fri, 07 Aug 2026 - US market performance can best be summed up as “recovery”. Over the past 5 trading days, the 3 composite indexes made ‘credible’ gains: (see above) DJIA: +2.42% S&P 500: +3.37% Nasdaq: +4.86% This as, the indexes remain ‘acutely’ sensitive and continue to be weigh down by below key factors: Middle East Tensions & Oil Volatility: There was a moment of ‘calmness’ as the Gulf states had US halt its bombing (of Iran) as fear that all the counterstrikes could engulf the Gulf countries in the process, leaving widespread geographical destruction by the time all the bombings are done. Fluctuating progress on reopening the Strait of Hormuz amid the U.S.-Iran conflict pushed Brent crude back above $82–$83 a barrel, renewing energy supply anxiety. Inflat

Why Intel Needs A $15B Stock Offering? The Concise Analysis

$Intel(INTC)$announced a $15 billion common stock offering, with underwriters holding a 30-day option for an additional $2.25 billion in shares, bringing total potential proceeds to $17.25 billion. Funds will support growth initiatives including AI computing, Physical AI, custom chips, advanced packaging and foundry services, plus capital expenditures and working capital. Shares fell ~4% on the news, a typical reaction. Stock offerings dilute existing shareholders, and with Intel in a heavy investment phase, markets naturally worry about future fundraising. However, paired with just-released Q2 results, the offering signals Intel may accelerate 14A and advanced packaging capacity buildout. CEO Pat Gelsinger previously set two condi
