$SPX Has Two Paths, Both Still Point Lower

The $S&P 500(.SPX)$ sell signal played out. Targets were hit. Now todayโ€™s low becomes the key level to watch. ๐Ÿ‘€ If it holds, Iโ€™m looking for a relief bounce first, with the Daily FVG resistance as the initial area to watch. But if todayโ€™s low breaks, that could be the trigger for W3 to start expanding lower. Either way, I donโ€™t think the bigger picture changes much. A hold could give us a bounce. A break could accelerate the downside. But once that bounce or breakdown resolves, the setup still favors lower. So for me, today isnโ€™t really about guessing the direction. Itโ€™s about watching the low. Hold it โ†’ bounce first. Lose it โ†’ W3 lower. Either path keeps the downside bias in play. ๐Ÿ“‰

$RNG Has Earnings, AI Growth and Shorts in the Mix

27 sessions into this move, $RingCentral(RNG)$ just printed a new 4-year high. What makes it more interesting is the backdrop. US equities are getting hit, bonds are selling off globally, yet $RNG keeps pushing higher. Even the August 13th pullback didnโ€™t do much damage. The stock had stretched to roughly 10ร— ATR% above its 50-day MA, stalled, pulled backโ€ฆ and then recovered the entire move in just 9 sessions. That kind of strength gets my attention. ๐Ÿ“ˆ So whatโ€™s behind it? A few things are lining up: ๐ŸŸข The market had largely neglected the stock. ๐ŸŸข Q2 2026 came in strong, with results beating expectations across the board. ๐ŸŸข Full-year guidance was raised. ๐ŸŸข AI product adoption is accelerating. ๐ŸŸข The dividend was increased significantly. ๐ŸŸข And short

Optionspuppy reflection How I Managed to Make S$15,000 Profit in August: Discipline, Covered Calls & China Futures GEX: A New Perspective on Market Moves

๐ŸŽ Write & Win | How I Managed to Make S$15,000 Profit in August: Discipline, Covered Calls & China Futures August was a month that reminded me of one of the most important lessons in trading: making money is not always about predicting the market correctly. Sometimes, it is about managing risk, taking profits when the opportunity appears, and avoiding the temptation to be overly aggressive. According to my August P&L, I finished the month with approximately S$15,500 in profit, representing a +11.69% P&L ratio. It was a strong month, but I would not describe it as simply โ€œgetting lucky.โ€ There was certainly some luck involved, especially with my Palantir Technologies (PLTR) covered calls, but the bigger lesson for me was the importance of having a plan and adjusting when the

For me, the biggest takeaway is that rising oil prices and Treasury yields are becoming a major headwind for high-growth tech. Higher discount rates make future AI cash flows worth less today, explaining why Microsoft and $NVIDIA(NVDA)$ can sell off despite strong long-term fundamentals. Iโ€™m still bullish on AI infrastructure, but Iโ€™m becoming more selective about how that growth is financed. $Dell Technologies Inc.(DELL)$ results showed genuine demand, while $Broadcom(AVGO)$ โ€™s reported debt-funded compute strategy raises questions about how much of the AI boom is backed by sustainable end demand versus financial leverage. Iโ€™ll be watching Broadcomโ€™s earning

August Trading Recap: Reflect, Learn & Plan for September

Personally, August has been a good month for me despite seeing many people around me struggling in August.  How did I do this month? My portfolio gained 9.43%, beating $SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust(SPY)$  by 6.75%. I am satisfied with all my selling puts trades as they have made me the most profit. I made 44 trades this month, with 88.64% winning rates.  $Applied Materials(AMAT)$  puts made me the most profit this month, followed by $Rocket Lab USA, Inc.(RKLB)$  ,$Vertiv Holdings LLC(VRT)$   and $EchoStar(ECHO)$  . Reflecting on August's market swings and positioning for September, utilizing a rolling options strategy on highly liquid mega-caps like Alphabet (GOOGL) and Microsoft (MSFT) offers a disciplined mechanism to manage risk and harvest premium. For covered call holders facing short-term upside pressure, rolling up and outโ€”closing the current call and selling a further-dated, higher-strike callโ€”allows you to reset your cap at a higher valuation while collecting additional time premium without forfeiting shares. Conversely, for cash-secured put strategies during yield-driven macro drawdowns, rolling down and out extends duration to absorb transient volatility, lowering the effective break-even cost basis on core long-term AI compounders.

What Worked in August: Defending Positions Without Giving Up Equity When initial support levels broke under tech multiples (QQQ) and short positions fell deep ITM, taking a direct loss or getting assigned at peak market panic was off the table. Instead, I executed a disciplined rolling framework: Rolling Down & Out: Closed troubled short put positions nearing expiry and reopened them at lower strike prices further out on the expiration calendar (30โ€“45 DTE). Demanding Net Credit: Never rolled for a debit. Every roll captured additional premium, effectively lowering my break-even price while extending duration to let macro noise settle. Fundamental and Technical Indicators in One Chart: MSFT, AAPL, TSLA, and more

The $S&P 500(.SPX)$ bounced today following oversold conditions and the indecisive price action (daily doji) observed yesterday. The bearish target for the week at 7,642.7 was breached, and then, the Central Daily Level that was modeled yesterday to consider bullish or bearish momentum was smoothly reclaimed today at the open. The SP500 opened below 7,635.4 and steadily gained upside momentum, moving toward the next bullish target of 7,659 before approaching with 7,681 to the next modeled level of 7,687. Price action printed a technical bounce, but tomorrow we will see how sustainable this move is by holding tomorrowโ€™s central daily level (CDL and posted below), especially given that todayโ€™s rejection occurred right at a key monthly level for

The New CEO, The Stock Rose

$Apple(AAPL)$ I previously thought that even though Apple is a top-tier contrarian stock, it would at least need to show some pullback given the magnitude of macro rate hikes. But I forgot about Apple's new CEO taking over โ€” his first public appearance is on September 10. Before that, the stock absolutely cannot fall โ€” how would that look? Wall Street these days can't even let the market drop on July 4th, so you really have to appreciate the unwritten rules of the game. In any case, although there is a 340 Sell Call block trade on September 9 $AAPL 20270115 355.0 CALL$ that makes it hard for the stock to break out significantly, I have no doubt that Apple won't fall before next we

9/2 Pre-Market Thoughts: Shorting Calls

I. Key Events DELL (Dell Technologies): Guidance Beat, But Be Cautious of Sustainability FY2027 EPS guidance was raised by 40%, significantly beating expectations. However, caution is warranted โ€” such high growth from a beat may itself be unsustainable; watch for realization risk. HPE (Hewlett Packard Enterprise): Earnings After Close Earnings are expected to be solid, with this week's implied volatility range at 45โ€“55. However, weighed down by macro headwinds, the stock is likely to gap up and then sell off. A dual-sell strategy (Sell Put + Sell Call) to capture volatility could be considered. $ARM Holdings(ARM)$ I continue to DCA into my ARM position because I believe the long-term opportunity is much bigger than the short-term price fluctuations. Arm is increasingly becoming a critical part of the computing ecosystem, with its architecture powering smartphones, cloud infrastructure, AI accelerators, automotive systems and increasingly PCs. As computing demand continues to expand, I see Arm's position as an important semiconductor IP provider giving it exposure to multiple long-term growth trends without having to manufacture chips itself. Another reason I continue averaging in is the growing importance of energy efficiency in AI and data centers. As AI workloads become more demanding, hyperscalers and chip designers are looking fo

$Direxion Daily Semiconductors Bull 3x Shares(SOXL)$ The semiconductor sector is going through another massive pullback, and while the volatility is uncomfortable, I see it as an opportunity to accumulate more SOXL rather than panic. My long-term view on semiconductors remains bullish, driven by AI infrastructure, data-center expansion, high-performance computing and growing demand for advanced chips. Short-term sentiment can change quickly, but I believe the structural demand for semiconductors will continue to expand over the coming years. Because SOXL is a 3x leveraged ETF, I'm not treating it as a simple buy-and-hold position. My strategy is to collect gradually during major pullbacks instead of putting all my capital in at once.
